*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Running the Quest version of Saints and Sinners, the graphics on the whole are pants, the various videos flying around look much better?

Also you cant move around smoothly?

For a mobile chipset I think the Q2 version doesn't look that bad really considering and for the movement there is definitely smooth movement available!

Yeah I tried the version via link/pc and that one is better looking. However next issue, no sound when using link version. For god sake. :D

When you turn you seem to turn a fixed angle instead of smooth movement, mebbe settings for that one.

In case anyone is interested, I fixed the 90hz PC VR problem, after speaking to ggodin (top bloke) I went in the streamer tab of VD and changed back to 72hz, then to 90hz again and it worked!

Alyx is so much smoother in 90hz, almost as good as Link at 72hz.

such a shame I'm loving it atm,
the dark area with the torch is mind-blowing!!!

I'll definitely pick it up again when I have some more space to actually play in; the presence was so good I just couldn't play it without moving around the environment (which actually do feel like a set of rooms of a certain size connected to each other). Spent maybe an hour just in the first two rooms, throwing bottles at people walking on the street below; drawing not penises on the windows with sharpies, tuning the radio etc.

I don't get it. You watch anyone playing it and they are standing in one position.

Alyx can be played with standing room only providing you have enough room to move your arms around.

But many games are massively improved by having room to move around, and when you have a huge area to use, then that's absolutely incredible.

Is there any more news about the link resolution and performance update that anyone has come across, or is it still just "fall"?
Cheers

If you opt into the Oculus PC client beta then you'll get resolution and bitrate improvements which make a huge difference. No 90hz yet though.

Yeah did that mate, did not realise the resolution was part of that though?
I was under the assumption the quest 2 was running at quest 1 resolution still via link
Cheers

It still is. Upping the pixel density just supersamples the image at quest 1 resolution, it does help a bit but its still not running at native nearly 4k resolution. Infact i think all games are running at quest 1 resolution both on link and internally if you change the texture size you can at least get native games to run at a much higher resolution.

Yeah that's what I thought, seems odd they released it under spec, hopefully wont be months before we see the update

Excuse the noob question, I've never owned a VR headset before and this one looks like a great price to finally dip my toe in. I have a decent spec PC, do I need to buy the optical cable to connect the Quest 2 to it or can it be done via wifi instead? £89 seems a lot for the cable but if I need it then I'll order one. Cheers!

You can get a anker usb3 cable for about 12 pound, 10foot one,
This was my first head set, decided to order a reverb g2 as currently this one does not look good enough for certain games I like to play such as sim racing games,

That said apparently there is a update coming that will improve the link connectivity and the resolution,
Plus I have a 3080 on order,
So if that all makes it better and happens before the g2 comes I will cancel the g2,

You can do wifi yeah but you need a router that can do 5ghz wifi speed, and requires some setting up as it's not yet officially supported
