*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Looks like my Quest 2 has developed a fault...Switched on my Quest 2 today to find a thin green line going right across the middle of the screen...almost looks like a few lines of pixels have died..restarted the headset several times & done a factory reset but line remains..have opened a ticket with Oculus.

noooooo

hope you get it sorted

Hope you get it sorted quickly. Oculus in my experience are pretty good at replacements - I had an Oculus Go replaced due to a dead pixel.

That's a shame!! Sorry to hear that. They are still in stock in most places so there shouldn't be too much of a delay in getting a replacement out to you.

On a completely different note, would you recommend the 3080? are you happy with it?
Yeah pal, more than happy, managed to get the FE as well, which I thought looked the best of them all,
Im not expert with the whole vram allocation v usage, but I cant tell you after burner is reporting 9.5GB vram on COD maxed out at 1440p
Will the 10gb on the card be a issue in the near future remains to be seen, especially as I think VR uses more vram? Could mean turning down setting sooner rather than later perhaps on some future games,
But for the Msrp price I paid I should be more than happy for many years to come with it I think.

Glad you are enjoying it. I am on the look out for one myself. Not convinced that AMD cards will be better in VR.

Wouldn't worry too much about the VRam. I haven't seen any compelling evidence that 10GB will be a problem in the foreseeable future.

Would effectively powering 2 screens showing different images require more vram though?

you shouldn't need more than 16Gb i wouldn't have thought
Are you seeing over 16GB used? Does Source 2 really need that much RAM?

I haven't actually checked it but it's behaving in that way. I have just set it all to the highest levels and have very high resolution settings.

I'll fire it up now and check.

my quest 2 is here

first impressions

lighter than Quest 1
Touch controllers feel better,, i like the idea where you can put our thumb not on any buttons

Quest 1 has a better strap

might have to wear the glasses spacer on this one, tried it and i see black rings
so fiddling with it atm

trying to wear it whilst charging and to set it up is a pain

Question to you owners: For using Link, if you don't have a USB C port on your mobo, can you just use a USB A to USB C cable (via a USB3 port ofc)? Payday is about a week away and I'm looking to pull the trigger on a Q2 and want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

Main use is going to be playing Elite Dangerous tethered, but also all the other good stuff for standalone as well.
