*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I have not actually tried anything particularly intensive over virtual desktop/link so everything has been fine with a 1080. Will wait till the new year and upgrade GPU, if can get one....

Mine updated to v23 via the ptc beta if i opt out it goes back to v21. Whats strange is when i plug in my quest 2 i get a message saying "enable oculus link beta" i thought it was out of beta?

1080 is more than enough for me, I don't get any problems.

I kinda wish their hand tracking had more uses though. it's really nice, just under utilised.

If you are using the PTC Beta, then you are still on the beta? Not sure what's strange about that. The full V23 is out now, you shouldn't to opt in to the Beta channel to get it.

I finally got my Q2 to a point where I can use it without getting a massive headache. I solved this with the addition of two items:

The Quest 2 Fit Kit - which gets me a larger facial interface
This mod on Thingiverse that adds 1mm to the IPD. The quest actually detects it properly and sets the screen position correctly. I'm guessing that internally it has the same gubbins that detects the position of the lenses as the Q2: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4627924

I transferred my Deluxe Audio Strap to the Q2 and handed my Q1 to my son and we had an enjoyable evening playing Walkabout Mini Golf.

Made the same offer to someone else, if you fancy getting a bit of cash back on the fit kit, I might be interested in buying the narrow fit (depending on cost) if you put it up on the members market :D.

Good to hear that you can use it properly now, the software definitely picks up where the eyepieces are and automatically adapts, you can see it doing so with the in between settings. Makes it even odder that they didn't allow it to be wheeled to exact positioning in my mind.

Hoping to pickup either real vr fishing, or walkabout golf, on sale come black friday (we'll see) for me and my old man. So we can play together.

Just bought a Vive deluxe audio strap plus adapter kit for my Quest 2 from Ebay...i can't seem to get my Elite strap to sit right & it tends to slip a lot so will see how i get on with the vive strap.

oo thats interesting, if i have problems, i know what to do :D

I'm starting to really hate the stock strap. It keeps slipping down my face. It's a terrible design, not to mention the foam becomes slippy when it gets sweaty.

Half way through beat saber and I've had to give up.

haha nevermind I should learn to read :p

EDIT: just for clarity, I thought you bought the Vive Strap and it kept slipping!!

I opted back into the Oculus PC client beta and it downloaded the new PC update so I can try 90hz and higher resolution.

I have the official link cable BTW.

Using the standard 1.0 resolution setting it still seemed blurry, but upping it to 1.3 made a big difference.

I still think the picture is slightly soft compared to my Index but there's no denying it looks miles better than before, plus the advantage is all the Oculus titles work, unlike with Virtual Desktop or Revive.

The caveat is that I have no chance of running 90hz at the best resolution with my 1080ti. I really need that 3080!

I find for wired VR the Index is far more comfortable, looks sharper (despite the lower resolution and more apparent SDE) and the bigger FOV makes a huge difference, but I think the Quest 2 is now great as a hybrid that can do wireless and wired. Amazing for £300 (plus new strap, plus link cable :) )

One annoyance is that as I have the elite battery strap is that I have to tie up the dangling power cable, as there's no data passthrough.
