*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

Just had a little experiment. Used a bit of the ribbon you get tied with gift balloons etc, tied two knots, one either end, and placed those knots in the cavity with the battery in the controller, one top, one bottom. Then closed the battery cover and the loop of ribbon acts as a pretty good knuckle grip, with the knots preventing it from sliding loose. Only a very quick proof of concept attempt, but reckon I can get a better result with little extra effort. Maybe add a thumb loop for extra safety.

Hi I have just got the quest 2 and have tried all three ipd settings each one of them I can see the edge of the screen narrower ipd is distorted but visible. Middle ipd I can occasional see the edge. And larger setting I can see edge is anyone else have this issue

Mine arrived this morning. Strangely separated into two shipments, 4 hrs apart in delivery times.

I'm a Rift CV1 owner, and bagged a Quest 2 256GB, and the Elite Battery Strap + Case.

Really impressed with the Quest 2. As soon as I put it on for the setup. OMG! The increase in resolution, and definition from the Rift CV1

Blown away!

I've a whole ton of games of course on Rift, that are cross-buy, so had a lot of Quest games I could install with no further purchase.

Those games look so good. I set up virtual desktop streaming, and I'm connected on 5GHz WiFi. Playing Rift games wirelessly, I honestly can't tell the difference. We'll I can actually as the screendoor is now gone, better res, and no wires

Glad I bought. Amazing upgrade from Rift CV1

My daughter told me, after she'd played on Quest 2, that the Rift is rubbish, and to sell it lol (Not that I will be)

The widest IPD setting will show a border, pick the one that looks less blurry. If you have a recent iphone there's a free app called Eye Measure that's mostly accurate to help you select. I'm somewhere in between middle and widest, so choose middle for better FOV.

Pretty much what everyone else's experience has been. I'm coming from a rift, rift s, quest, go and reverb. Wireless connection to my pc and steam vr games library with little to no obvious lag or degradation in graphics. Yep. Amaze balls for the price. Visually a small step up from the rift s. Needs the elite strap though.

I'm hoping someone can help with a couple of niggles,

I have virtual desktop, purchased on the oculus store for the quest, have side quest installed and connecting to the headset so I have side loaded the virtual desktop patch from side quest, developer mode enabled.

I can launch Oculus Rift games, lucky's tale, super hot fine from Virtual desk top but when I try to launch a steam game (with or without enabling steam vr in VD) it launches in theatre mode not VR?

What have I missed?

Also how do I open the folders on the headset when it's connected (as I foolishly said to the prompt the first time I plugged it in to take no action when the quest is plugged in) so cannot find a way to place the quake 2 .apk files into the correct oculus headset folder.

@SpiritOfTheAge you have downloaded SteamVR in Steam I assume? Sorry basic, but all i can think of.

On the 2nd question, is your Quest2 not showing up in file explorer like a usb drive does? Mine does.

Hi yes I have steamVR installed, I also still have my index connected, would there be an issue with having that running and trying to run VD and quest stream?

No it isn't showing up like a USB or similar would when plugged in but I am able to install things from sidequest onto the headset, well at least it says it all went OK at the end of the process.
