*** Oculus Quest 2 Owners Thread ***

I’m having same/similar problem but using
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
Palit GeForce RTX 2060 StormX
Would this be drivers or does anyone know any reason this is happening?
Everything works on another system so its been narrowed down to these
Apologies for my delayed response. The article ony suggests the Polaris and Vega series graphics products are having this issue. I don't know if your gfx card is one of them...

I've been considering hiring a church or community hall for some big roomscale experiences. I imagine these halls aren't being used much these days.

I took mine outside in the garden, and it looked like the largest guardian I could draw was about 6m x 6m which was okay. The guardian can be disabled in developer options but then you'd need a really big space like a park or footy pitch so you don't go crashing in to anything.

I once took mine to an empty office floor, maxed out the guardian and it was incredible. I've never felt so immersed in VR.

I was surprised there was a limit to the size of the guardian you can draw. The next thing on my list is to fire up the Apollo 11 experience and have a bimble round and take a stroll to little west crater.

I just ordered an Oculus Quest 2, though I had to get over my loathing of all things social media, which will, when I get it on Wednesday, be the first time I've ever tried VR.

I need to buy some earphones to go with it as well as a link cable. From reading this thread it does look like I'll need to get a different head strap as well as a better face thingy whenever they are available again.

I'm looking forward to it but mostly looking forward to Half Life Alyx.

welcome to VR

1st off take it easy

dont go bezerk and do alyx straight away, you will be sick and never return to VR again

Also i use these headphones https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08LGLMMYW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

because the cable is just right length, and i love the place holders on the sides for your ear phones to go in, sound sounded worse than my Sennheiser's to begin with, but i quickly adapted and sound fine

Cheers. Yes I plan to walk before I run, figuratively speaking of course as doing that for real would be dangerous with a VR headset on.

I was just looking at those earphones but I just remembered my AKG Y50's came with a jack lead so I'll try those first though I expect headphones might not work well with the Quest 2.

I was playing beat saber with the wife last night. Such good fun also got the demo of superhot which we were really enjoying till she crashed into the wall so I've set the guardian showing the perimeter on the floor all the time. So easy to get disorientated in vr.

If I buy games on steam do I need to be hooked up with the link cable or via virtual desktop to play them or can I install superhot to the quest 2

Superhot is on the oculus app on your headset / phone app

or you can buy it from either steam or oculus PC desktop app (which ever is cheapest) but then you either play via Link cable or virtual desktop

That answers my question. It was still on offer on steam last time I looked. Im in the same room as my WiFi router and pc (hooked up via Etherley cable) so connection should be good. Only issue is I'm only on a 5th gen i5 and an amd 6950 with 16gb ram so quite an old set up

I think your GPU is well below spec (I believe you need something like a GTX970/1060 and above) unsure on the CPU you might be at the bottom rung of compatibility.

TBH games which require quick reaction times I've been leaning towards buying the Quest version.

Are there not any differences between superhot for pc and it for quest like graphical downgrades? I bought Onward for quest, there are distinct graphical differences. Then I soon learnt about virtual desktop and wireless hookup of pcvr games and quest so I refunded my quest onward and bought it on pc to play it wireless in full graphical glory.
