*****Official 2013 BBQ Thread- it's sizzlin'!!!!*****

You can bbq anywhere. I've bbq all over the place. In the street, in a park, on the beach, even bbq on top of a mountain once, on a boat, i am sure ill think of more.

That's not really true though is it.

Fine if you are in the middle of nowhere, or somewhere that you would be camping and cooking outdoors anyway. In a more urban environment, with areas like Parks its either banned outright, or they have a very specific area. London as an example only has a handful of Parks and Boroughs which allow BBQs, the Royal parks certainly don't allow them.

Even outside of cities, many National Parks and National Trust and Forestry Commission areas have very specific rules on where you can and can't BBQ or cook.

There's some lovely looking BBQ's here and some even lovelier looking food.

I've just picked up this gas BBQ on ebay for £50. It's speckled with rust in places but it's nothing that can't be sorted by a quick rub down and an application of stove paint.

Being gas I thought the food might not have a barbecued taste but it does. Not as good as coal or wood but that's easily remedied by adding a wire rack just above the gas flames and covering it with coal/wood.

Where can I buy new racks? I need one for the food to sit on and one for the coals and wood. (I've just built my own temporary BBQ for the summer.)

I don't know where other people get theirs from. I just used two old oven racks side-by-side to spread the coals or wood out on.

BBQ a day keeps... can someone move this back to Cuisine? It's a bitch to find in here!

So i just treated myself to a 1 touch Weber Premium kettle bbq after my last bbq had rusted away.

I was planning on doing a sunday roast this weekend with a slow cooked leg of lamb, but now im thinking i'll do lamb on the BBQ! Any tips for slow cooking a 2.3kg leg of lamb?

Cheers!

I have cooked a shoulder of pork in Dr Pepper for a few hours yesterday. I want to put it on the barbecue today to get the outside nice and cooked.

Can anyone recommend a good sugary/barbecuy mop sauce kind of thing to use when it is cooking?
