*** Official 7950 Ice-Q Owners Club***

I must apologise tommybhoy; it seem you where right!

Something, somewhere, was causing a conflict/problem and for some reason this time I re-installed Windows 7 the card works with the default BIOS on switch 1. I did try this so no idea where I went wrong the first time. :confused:

Hurray! What a mug I was to think I had exhausted my options. ^_^;

No RMA after all. I am a very happy man. :D

Could someone test something for me.

I tried running Skyrim with the usual visual mods and I get really bad tearing.

If anyone else has/had this problem and have sorted it out, please let me know.

I wonder if the HIS ICEQ bios`s on the new cards will work for our cards :D
anyone have access to the R9 280x bios and i will give it a try lol, has to be a bios from the new line up with the same GPU architecture and bus and memory 3gb ect.

I doubt it will work. His 7950 cards all use Elipda memory. It has different timings to the Hynix memory used on His 7970/280X. I don't suppose it will hurt to try though as you have a bios switch.

memory on gpu cards does not matter much as long as the card boots if there is artifacts memory speeds can be reduced to optimal 7950 clocks :D
i tested this on my 7950 when i was hunting out bios`s and flashed almost all 7950 bios`s on to my cards and they booted and worked ;)

Every bios flash i tried on my 7950 failed and i must have tried half a dozen. The Ice-Q boost cards have different memory timings from most it seems. If you have a non boost Ice-Q you'll have more luck. This is what myself and Tommy discovered anyway.

well i have tried half a dozen and they work for me, also my cards where boost versions but i flashed with none boost versions and they work to.....

if you open the bios in bios editor it tells you what cards will work with the bios and it says both ram types so guess i have lucky cards the only bios`s that i have had problems with are the CU type cards as they use different HDMI/and ports on the rear of the card causing issues.

though im on the hunt for the toxic 280x bios :P anyone find it let me know.
or if anyone has the toxic card yet open latest GPUZ and get me dat bios :)

I think they changed something half way through. I'm sure Tommy said it used to work, but stopped when they changed something with the HIS cards. I only go mine after the change unfortunately.

@Jarrastafari,

Well done, saved yourself a few quid there.

@ViRuS2k,

You got the early non boosts?

As matt said, I tried loads of different bios to get rid of the spiking but they wouldnt work, either black screens or clocks stuck on 500MH(gigabyte bios that was compatible with earlier Ice-Q's) with no way to modify them, the original non boost Ice-Q bios wouldn't work either.
