**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

Yeah as a temp measure I have put a 6cm fan over the heatsinks and that is helping but I don't like it really.

Until then the only thing I could hear was my hard drive and all I can hear is the the 6cm fan!

Although it is not a silent model.

Just out of interest what are all your voltage settings for 3.9Ghz?

They were about -

Vcore - 1.43v under load
MCH - 1.4v (but that's with 8gb of memory)
VTT - 1.25v
ICH - 1.10v

I don't think the last three are the exact settings in the BIOS, but they'll be +/- 0.01v. This is the only screen shot I took of the Q6600 at 3.9ghz before I retired it to the AB9 QuadGT rig -

It's currently sitting at 3.46ghz and 1.28v under load in the dedicated Folder -

i have actually experienced that greebo too, i thought it was just my head playing tricks on me, think i'll try and older cpu-z and see if i can improve my overclock.

I received the XE model yesterday and spent all night trying to get past problems. Honestly it has not been a good week for technology!! I take it is OK to post here since it is virtually the same board as the Pro.

I have e8400, 2x 1GB OCZ Reaper 8500, 1x Raptor 74GB and 1x Samsung F1.
On first boot I had the Logo screen but could not do anything. Eventually realised it was stuck on the detecting drives part of POST. Unplugged those and set BIOS, saved to profile etc. I've set the Sata option to IDE instead of ACHI but I get a BSOD a few seconds after Windows XP logo.

I thought this was perhaps the saved image build so I booted from XP CD instead. It loads the initial Windows files and then as it pauses on the 'waiting to install Windows' (or whatever message) it BSOD's and fails to bring up the EULA or partitions screen.

I just cant work it out... I thought it was a hard disk issue but the DVD drive has the same issue (Sata). I don't know if the board is faulty but I just can't see what other option I have missed as I tried so many things last night.

F6 driver option when XP installing? Is it BSOD'ing because the board flips out at not recognizing the hard disks? I'm not raiding so I didn't think I'd need to install anything. Any help appreciated :)

Dammit... it was either a faulty sata cable (new one in pack) or one of the sata ports on the boards is faulty/finicky. The raptor in sata 1 caused the post screen to freeze but I moved to another port and voila...

I'll be taking a good image when all apps are on as I've had enough os installing for a while!

I have a bit of a noob question, I need to assign IRQ's manually as I'm getting a clash between my soundcard and my DVB-T card which is causing me issues, how do I manually assign IRQ's with this board?

Same here, but I put up with it, the tv card goes a tad slow when you need to change channel or anything, but watching it is fine.

Well Ive just moved from vista32 to vista64, and the poping and stuff that I was getting in vista32 browsing the net has gone in vista64, but like I have said the tv actions still lag terrible and the lag gets worse the longer its running, but sound and watching it is fine tho, so it dont really annoy me, just cannot flick though the channels fast.

Hi all, i need some advice.
I'm looking to use hdmi out from my graphics card and i want to use the S/pdif out from the motherboard.
The problem is the graphics card cable only has 2 wires (black and red) which aren't labeled, the Ip35 has 3 pins, vcc5volt, s/pdif out and ground.
How am i to know which to attach?
Thanks.

I'm going to throw this board through my window in a minute !!

Me too! Just read your thread, and I'm having problems too, can't even get it to boot!!!

My spec :-

Intel E8400
512mb HD3850
4gb (4x1gb) Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667
550w Corsair VX PSU
SB X-Fi
2x Seagate 7200.10 320gb HDD's
2x DVD-RW drives

Basically, it goes into a loop every time I try too start the PC up, the little Guru thingy counts from 8.0 to 9.0, then jumps to 9.9, tries to turn itself off, but instead goes back to 9.0 and repeats infinitely!

I've tried with 1, 2, 3, and 4 sticks of ram, 0HDD, 1HDD, 2HDD, GPU installed, not installed, etc, cleared cmos many times, nothing makes any difference at all! Anyone got any ideas please?

This might help (or not):

Looks like hit and miss with psu/gpu and ip35 pro mobo. Sometimes an rma graphics card fixes the problem, other times a new psu does it.

Have you tried your card in the 2nd slot? I know it;s only 4x but chances are it will work. Where you go from there is the hard one!

Yeah, great isn't it?!

At least you're a little further on than me, I can't even flash the BIOS if that's what's causing the problem, so I'm completely stumped for now! :(

Hope you get yours fixed though.

If its looping that means something isnt compatable with the board. I had the non pro version, and that kept looping cos the E8400 wasnt compatable, so changed it for the pro version and it booted first time.

Well, I've tried everything now, and get the same error every time, whatever combination I use, whichever PCI-E slot I use, etc! :(

I'm gonna ask Nelly what Bios he was running, wonder if it was one previous to the Wolfdale's being released?

At the very worst you can buy a pre-flashed BIOS chip from the auction site for about £13. It's a Dutch seller, but it usually comes within a couple of days.

I assume that'd need to be soldered in after the previous one was de-soldered? That'll be me out then, I've got the touch of an elephant!
