**Official ABIT IP-35 Pro Review/Overclock/Guide Thread**

nice to see the OP's initial first post has been updated..... ;) NOT.

Cmon please add some more stuff.. I'm pretty sure I said somewhere in the thread that the " Scythe Ninja Rev.B " fits the board fine.

I want to push my E8400 up to 4GHZ now and try and get it stable.. its currently at 3825 ( 450 x 8.5 ) with my Cas4 6400 Corsair DHX ram @ 1:1 ( 900 in bios, 450 in windows )

Can someone please tell me what safe voltages I can run in the bios ? ( MB Volts etc )

I have no idea and trauling through this thread will take me too long..... thnx

With an attitude like that I'd say you're likely to get reported to a Don and binned. 99.99% of everything posted on here is posted by volunteers. If you don't have time to trawl through the thread (or use the search feature), why should anyone else spoon-feed you?

I would have to say you are very unlikely to get 1000MHz out of Corsair PC6400 RAM, and that is your most likely cause of instability rather than voltages.

Although I agree with the first comment, your 2nd is wrong (technically).

Although unlikely to get more than 900Mhz from the Corsair ram at stock timings (4-4-4-12) mine runs happily at 1080 at 5-5-5-12.

I've got about 12 pairs of DHX and XMS2 and only the very early ones run at 500/1000MHz - the later revision ones don't. It's not impossible that they will, but it's highly likely that any instability is RAM driven rather than motherboard settings.

Sorry for rattling your cage dude, but the title says its an overclock / guide thread, I only want to help people out when they intially read the thread and think " ahh I can use my scythe ninja instead of wasting £25 on a new cooler " I also find the search feature quite hard to use and thought it might be a little easier and quicker to ask a simple question.... not exactly being spoon fed is it ? :p and yes, 99.99% of the stuff on here is posted by volunteers but they usualy like helping each other out :) .. applogies if you thought I was being abit agressive / attitude problem.

Thankyou for your input on the ram, I'm currently at 900mhz on 4-4-4-12 timings and havn't managed to crash the computer yet :D I will have a play later and see if I can get any higher, but I v.much doubt it.. I was thinking of dropping the ram speed down for 4GHZ anyway.

Err you can't. 1:1 is the lowest so at 4Ghz your ram will be running at 941Mhz effective so highly unlikely you will get away with tight timings of 4-4-4-12.

I think Nelly has about half a dozen of these threads spread about the net. He can't be expected to keep track of them all.

And I think he sold his IP35-Pro a few weeks ago anyway.

Sorry what I meant is adjust the multiplier on the cpu from 8.5 to 9, then it will lower the ram speed as the FSB won't be so high ( as I will have to drop the fsb down to get it under 4GHZ once the multi is changed ) :)

Less of the rude attitude, be thankful I take the time to do this in the very first place - I DO update this thread on what I would say a regular basis usually every 2-4 weeks.

The problem I have is various forums have different rules for posting i.e. Maximum of 15,000 characters, I've already gone past that so I've had to edit others to keep the best suitable info.

Also on the Abit forums I have like so many weeks I can edit my post then it can only be done by moderators, it's damn annoying to the point I cant be bothered e-mailing mods to update it, I dont think I should have too.

Believe it or not it's a time consuming job especially having the above problems included, I do try & keep up with whats posted in the various threads I've made but dont expect me to do this 24/7 this isnt a job, be thankful someone has made an effort to make a better effort.

Other official threads you will see on forums, never get updated after a few weeks i.e. overclocking threads, Asus, MSI, Giagabye official threads etc.

Aye your correct, I will keep the original thread updated.

I wonder how many Abit motherboards I have sold by doing these threads in the first place.

Nelly has been doing a great job for almost a year, very few other threads get updated over that period of time.

As has been explained though we do have what we believe are valid reasons for that.
How hard is it to email or PM us with an update given that you are already doing it for elsewhere?
Just copy & paste?

Another problem on the Abit forums is the ability to send lengthy forum pm / mail, it cannot exceed 3000 characters if I remember correctly so if I've got more than one section to update I have to send individual e-mails kinda tedious.

Do you have a hotmail e-mail address or something similar? my e-mail is in trust on here, I could send you the full update of my threads on there to cut & paste.

Updates to the first thread, added the following:

Compatable Air Cooling List (NOTE: Doesnt take into consideration case sizes)

Scythe "NINJA PLUS Rev.B" 6Heat Pipes CPU Cooler

Compatable Ram List - Bootable with default voltage to bios

G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8500 (2x2GB) CAS5

Official BIOS

BIOS ID:17

1. Fixed 45nm CPU compatibility and support CPU half multiplier.

See... Should I be wrorried??

uGuru is showing 1.21v though & I would tend to believe that.
btw there can be conflicts with having both uGuru & CPU-Z open at the same time.

Im also trying hybrid sleep out again now the cpu temps are fixed. hybrird sleep is like turning a tv on and off, you can use it almost instantly. Im quite inpressed with the speed it turns off into hybrid sleep (about 10 - 15secs) and comes out of hybrid sleep (2secs if that) and I have 8gb of memory too.

So I really hope I will be able to use hybrid now, cross fingers.

hi guys been running this rig for a year now at the speeds listed in my sig. Never had problems but Age of Conan keeps blue screening so i have had to go back to stock speeds.

I know the game is buggy but my friend has a similar rig and only started getting blue screens once he overclocked his cpu a bit (0.2ghz) so i figure the crashes are likely oc related and this game is more sensitive to slightly unstable overclocks than say crysis which ran fine the whole time i played it.

Do you think upping some voltages might sort the problem as heat is currently not an issue? (always runs cool enough even after running at load for a few hours)

Thanks for any suggestions :)
