interestingly I hadn't tried Windows 7 with new 4890 ...

I've been playing over last few weeks 4890 overclocked to 960/1080 - and getting at 1900x1200 - with shadows to low, fsaa to normal, antio normal, objects high, post processing low etc - 25 odd in towns, 30-35 average, very rarely upper 30s

W7 - non-clocked 4890 as not installed hte overclocking software yet .. same settings, but post processing on high, and shadows on high ...

now 35 odd in towns, more like 40 average, and getting now even 50+ ocassionaly which was un-heard of

quite a difference in performance

That's reassuring. I'm looking to upgrade my setup with that card running at that res on Win 7. Thought I would have to go for the 4870x2, but have been reassured by others as well on my "spec me" thread. What processor do you have? Ta.

Hi - there is a comprehensive Arma I editing guide produced free of charge by Mr Murray and memphisbelle on the BI Forums, and I believe most of the content is relevant to Arma II though a revised version is being worked on :

I assume you had Vista..!

30% Increase in games Windows 7 vs Vista...

Or even better go back to WinXP and probably get 40% vs Vista LOL...

I am running Win7 with 4870 x2 @1920x1200 and it runs quite nice.. all depends on the options you choose.. anyone change may mess it all up ;-(

Just dont set GFX Memory to very high as that is only 512mb!... Set Default and check your config file (in most of the guides)

Large update is large! No more Arma 2 tonight :(

Does anyone know where to get plane missions? Ideally I want a single player version of domination west where I can just jump straight into planes and kill stuff. I was just playing online and it was incredibly fun but I CBA waiting 30 minutes until I can fly.

don't let the bugs put you off ....

since this got released - I haven't played ANYTHING else - PC or console ... even though I bought 1943 on XBOX recently

its extremely good fun online

Always annoyed me that you would have a perfect SMAW shot on a tank, only for it to blow up on the one branch somewhere between you and the target.

It is a bit worrying that they didn't even check the fix list as several items are listed two or three times.

Ugh tell me about it. I've actually killed myself so often because of that!
