*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

I have Windows 7 64bit and ATI Catalyst 9.6 drivers and have just installled the game.
Unfortunately it resembles a bunch of crash test dummies, running around a grey background.
Looks like its only displaying the base models and no textures, does anyone else have this problem or know which are the best drivers to use.

HURRY UP DAMMIT!!!

i was just beginning to get bored of this game (admittedly havent got the time to play it much at the minute), just completed the first bit of Manhattan level and the next bit is the first taste of proper conflict in the game. I was getting sick of running around like the proverbial headless chicken looking for 'clues' etc.

It does, however, remind me so much of operation flashpoint - from the menu system and poor voiceovers to the awful generic vehicle sounds to the washed out jaggy graphics.

In a way this adds to the game though. yes its buggy but i get the same feeling as i did with the original OF..... "wow"

Back in the day id never seen anything like it before, or even since.

i think the gritty graphics definitely add to the sense of realism (think of original playstation graphics compared to colourful cartoony N64 graphics).

My overclocked 4850 just about runs this @ 1920 x 1080 so Im happy with my purchase, and i havent even looked at the editor yet...

JudgeC,

Make a shortcut if you haven't already and then goto the properties/shortcut/target

It will read something like this ..

"C:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -winxp -nosplash -world=empty

After the second " there is a space, you want to add -winxp

The others are no splash load screens and a less graphic main screen

(ya might as well just use the 3, think almost all of use those lol)

Have Fun

I will give this a try tonight, the Mrs is out and I should be able to put a few hours in, if this gets it working.

AI doesnt really cheat as such, if you used the javalin then the smoke trail from the projectile would have been visibile from a large distance. So they would have known your general direction.

If you moved around then chances are because they were concentraiting on your direction you were spotted and they just open fired at your location with a barrage of bullets. Effectively blind firing in your direction.

If it were the tank then dont forget that tanks have optics for firing long range, and seeing through objects, so to them you might of been very visibile.

I know the UK tanks use smoke to drop visibily to 0 and switch on infa red/heat sensing gear to pinpoint targets.

Its a nice answer and at least if I were to imagine that's what happened then I don't feel as aggrieved, However AI does indeed cheat, as per this chaps clear test, albeit not that extensive ( i guess there's no point testing it over and over again when your first 2 show it to be true)

It is quite an annoying problem. The AI seem to always know where every vehicle is and if it is friendly or enemy.

I've posted the results of this test before, but the bug is still apparent in ArmA 2, so it may be worth posting again.

One test at the airstrip on Utes...

Static M2 placed directly behind a T-72. The T-72 is facing away from the M2. I get on the M2, and the T-72 turret swings around and automatically targets me.

I didn't fire a single bullet.

Second test, night time, airstrip at Utes.

A flight of Hueys start 500 meters North of the airstrip, with a given waypoint that makes them fly past the runway to the South.

I spawn on a ZU-23, hidden behind the control tower. The Hueys start spraying my position with gunfire, even though I haven't fired a single bullet.

Sorry for butting in, but I just wanted some advice that didn't warrant a new thread:

Just Got ArmA 1 as a bargain (including Queen's Gambit extension), patch version 1.08. Are there any essential mods about (mainly for single-player)?

Just had a great game on the ocuk server, best yet tbh.

Still havnt a clue what im doing but getting there slowly. Pitty it doesnt run too well on my system but some tweaking here and there should get that sorted.
