*******Official Armed Assault 2 thread of official officialness*******

Sorry for butting in, but I just wanted some advice that didn't warrant a new thread:

Just Got ArmA 1 as a bargain (including Queen's Gambit extension), patch version 1.08. Are there any essential mods about (mainly for single-player)?

Try a mod called "ACE"
You'll never look back to vanilla ArmA the same way again.

Getting sick of the game now. Its a shame because it could be great, but at the moment its just a buggy pile of crap.

I've stopped playing it. I tried the Single player story mode as I call it :p

Played the first bit with the Mass Graves, Laser guided the beach and found it all a bit.. well... Boring maybe?

I've messed around a fair bit in the Armoury trying different weapons and vehicles but the challenges they set you are ridiculous and unreal, I get given a rocket launcher and am set a challenge to survive. So they send two apcs and a tank when I only have the one rocket!

Then the AI senses where you are even if your lying on the floor and havn't moved, what a joke

no matter what anyone says, do not get ACE Mod. I got it as everyone said it was amazing!

Played it and enemies i shot would come back alive and stuff. crap mod.

got this the other day, however i broke my hand an now cant use a mouse for 6 wks while its in cast, looks nice though and im looking forward to getting to play it :(

I've been on the OCUK server a few times now, Longest Day is a great mission :D

Can anyone recommend a good site for CoOp missions, especially smaller 6-12 man missions?

been playing a bit on the ocuk server today

its such a confusing game, but am getting the hang of it. I think i killed a few people but kept ctd'ing before i could see my score! I find it hard to keep up with the misson objectives because everyone seems to race off leaving me and a few others just standing there waiting for some transport lol

It is fun but the majority of my time was spent as a passenger in a helicopter today... Need more killing!

was looking at benches till late last night ....

presumably I'm not loosing a huge amount going for a 4890 over a GTX285 ? I'm just thinking a 4890 -should have about 90% of the performance for a much lower price (at a minimum 75 less) - and therefore it makes far more sense as a tie-over card till the next range end of the year ?

Just had my first real go at this game and, coming from an ofp vet, will say that I'm pretty happy with what I have seen so far.

I know I will be playing a lot of this game so am entering into it quite slowly. Haven't really seen combat yet but have spent some time in the editor and looked at the mp options and possibilities.

My only gripe so far is that there doesn't seem to be steam invite/join support in the friends list :( I was hoping to be able to host a game and invite people like I do in most steam games.

Am I right in saying that the best way to host a room and get a few mates in is just via giving them your ip and having them connect via the remote option in the browser? I am hoping this is not one of those games where hosting a room and giving it a name are pointless because no-one can see it in the list.

I'm going to spend most of my time making missions and hosting them so it is this area that will make or break the game for me ultimately.

This retail version of the game (as opposed to Steam) is down to £17.99 at two different stores online, one (with 9% quidco) has highstreet branches as well whilst the other doesn't. That's all I can tell you without getting into trouble

the damage models are modified by the ace mod

As in you can get hit be unconsience and then you may wake up a bit later
heal yourself(using bandages/morphine) and continue the fight

It can be a bit confusing if you DONT read the read me file detailing this.

They aint zombi soldiers returning from beyond the grave

Prague, Czech Republic, July 2nd 2009 - Bohemia Interactive, creators of award winning military simulator games Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and ArmA: Combat Operations and IDEA Games announced today the release of the first of a series of video diaries for ARMA II: this one focused on the game's basic controls.

Jan Prazak Bohemia's PR manager explains the basic controls of ARMA II, shown using comprehensive video footage captured in-game.

"Our games can be mistakenly understood as difficult to play in terms of game mechanics and control if the player isn't properly introduced to these functions up front," said Jan Prazak. "Our intention is to explain the default settings and introduce the more casual player to the game mechanics of ARMA II. The main goal of these videos is to reveal the depth of the game and describe in an easy-to-understand way how fun it really is to play ARMA II and enjoy one of the most sophisticated military simulator on market."

ARMA II offers the ultimate realistic combat simulation experience in a modern day setting. With unprecedented freedom of movement, actions and tactics, the game allows players to immerse themselves in battle as never seen before.
