*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

OK thanks!!! one other thing is that when i run vista pc check it only scores 4.6 on my RAM, is this right considering im using 4 gigs of Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2 PC2-8500C5 ?

Cheers,

I thought it was low too, i have set the timings in the bios to 5-5-5-15 and manually changed the voltage to 2.02 so it should be fine i thought... maybe i need to pump up the volts...?

CPU-Z shows everything fine at like 400 and odd MHZ (i set it to 1033 in the bios)

Not sure what else i can do ?

Has anybody had any problems with using the OcUK 8500 Memory with this board. A friend has just bought a new rig and the post is stopping on detect DRAM. He has gone down to one stick (From 4) and alternated all four and still can't get past this.

Any Ideas?

I had the same problem the other week and all that i had done is shutdown and changed the graphics card , it wouldnt post after that with either card in . in the end i left out the battery for 24hrs or more and up it came . i did the same with the changing ram slots also tried removing the cpu and still no joy , the battery thing did the trick

I had 6 months of problems with this memory. It is advertised as Elixir (and if it is you may be OK) but if it is MRAM you are more than likely to be in deep trouble.

I did get 4 sticks of MRAM to boot and be stable in the end, but only at 800Mhz rather than the advertised 1066Mhz. Needed top end voltage 2.3V as well. The problem with the setup though is that if all you have is this memory you will not get past the DET DRAM error. You need a spare stick that you know will boot and keep swapping that in and out as you change your BIOS.

Thanks for this - I think I will reccoment he returns the RAM (which is MRAM) and swap it for something else.

I have the thermalright 120 ultra and it fits a treat - you need to check that it will fit your case though

Is it the extreme version? I have this heatsink and am looking at this board since the prices have come down recently and the other components are on TWO :)

EDIT: Can I also ask, is the board that OcUK sell the Special Edition board? I would be very interested as I have the Q9450 pre-ordered and have heard good things about this board.

My board in the Formula Special Edition - not the extreme. I did get the board from OcUK but i think they may have stopped selling the Special Edition now as I cannot see it on the website anymore.

Sorry it was two different questions, was the heatsink the TRUE 120 extreme (but I noticed in a search that people are using that with this board).

I don't think it will make much difference to me anyway since I won't be doing any watercooling :)

can anyone give me there specs/voltages etc.. i want to go to 3.6ghz

my rig specs: antec 900 , q6600 g0 ,asus maximus formula, 4 gig of balistix 1066 , zalman 9700 , and ocz ram cooler.

i cant get my cpu 2 overclock manually the only way is to set the cpu voltage to auto and its unstable if i set it to any voltage it wont boot i used to run at

3.6ghz 400x9 with 1.43v ram at 2.2 800mhz 5-5-5-12

but it just wont boot on this board everything else set 2 auto pcie@100

any help apreciated

Looks good andyr, but the only thing bothering me is that anandtech's review of the Rampage mentioned that the chipset ran cooler, so a change in the chipset was alluded to.......maybe Asus just used proper paste on that review sample or something ;)
