*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

hi, is any one running a qx9650 on the formula se. may i ask if yes what bois flash you use?. had a major problem since changing from q6600 to qx9650, i cant get it off auto vcore.
if i put it on manual it just ignores what i set, and stays at stock vcore. auto does works up to 4.0ghz puts it to 1.3v . in fact if i take it off auto vcore it will not even boot at any speed above stock speed.
worked fine on the old chip.
thanks

TBH m8 4Ghz and 1.3v is perfect, I personally wouldn't give it any more juice :)
sorry but that is not the point, i was trying to say i cant give it any more vcore because manual vcore dosent work. ie, if i set it to any voltage 1.4v for example
save it then boot, at say 3.4ghz i look in cpuz it shows 1.1v.
same thing when i check the bios power monitor, shows 1.1v yet when i look in tweaker menu it is still set at 1.4v
auto vcore at 4.0ghz is not enough it bearly boots to windows. taking it off auto wont boot above 3.4ghz becaus any increase in vcore is ignored .
sorry for long post but got a phase unit here that i cant use because i cant set the vcore i want.

You could always give this bios a try , but i dont know if its any good with the qx9650 yet but it works with the q6600 :)

Flashed to the Rampage bios today myself to, was quite fun really, everst memory benchmark was quite a bit slower compared to the maximus 0907 settings but theres so many other memory timming on the rampage bios i expect i just gotta do some tweaking, only problem is i aint got a clue what half of the new settings do yet :D

hi,

I've just got the SE version of this board. I'm using the fusion waterblock. is it worth fitting the optional fan/fans?

Hello,
This is my first post on the forum, although i've been an OCUK customer for quite some time. I wish that my first post could have been made in happier times, but I need some help, please!

I recently purchased bits for a new rig, including the Asus Maximum Formula, 4 Gig (4x1GB) Ballistix Tracer 1066Mhz, a Geforce 8800 GTS etc...
Put the machine together, fairly seemless build, all worked straight away, installed Vista Ultimate 32bit, all was fine for a couple of weeks until last weekend, when, randomly, I started seeing bsods....

All to do with memory, issues writing to ram etc. Everything is running at stock speeds, (in the bios everything is on auto apart from I upped the DRAM speed to 1066mhz from the default 800mhz). My machine now lasts anywhere between 5 minutes to an hour before something will randomly crash, followed a few seconds later by a bluescreen.

I'm literally too afraid right now to try and attempt uploading a CPU-Z type screenshot, so i'll just list a few figures:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale
Core Voltage: 1.128v
Core Speed: 2003.8Mhz (I guess Speedstep is causing this? It's a 3ghz chip)
Bus Speed: 333mhz
Rated FSB: 1335.9Mhz
Bios Brand: American blah
Version 0907
Date: 12/14/2007
DRAM Frequency: 534.4mhz
FSB:DRAM 5:8
5.0 - 5 - 5 - 18 - 2T

For the life of me I cant get this board stable, I've tried lowering the ram speed to 800mhz, and while I think it does improve uptime, it eventually ends in a bluescreen. I tried swapping the ram around, and it seemed to make a difference for a while, but then right back to bluescreen.

I'm at the end of my teather, I'm not fussed about overclocking so much, but I just want my machine to be stable at stock speeds.

PLEASE, any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Alistair
