*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

Just got the SE version of this board and running 4 x 1GB Ballistix 8500 without issue [email protected]. [933]

Only issue I have seen so far is it doesnt like high FSB above 440 with 4 sticks.

Running the fusion block and I expected it to be rubbish but its doing the job very well. The entire chipset heatsink seems very cool. Restricted my flow but I have compensated by turning up the flow.

Very impressed with the board so far. Build quality is probably one of the best boards I have seen.

Good to hear. Can't wait for mine to get here!

guys, ive just got this MB with an Q9450.
would post #151 settings apply to this CPU as well?

my configuration is:
Q9450 (running stock at 19C)
Asus Maximus Formula SE
Arctic Cooling Freezer
Antec 900
Corsair 650W
OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz

Hi , the screen shots were with a q6600, so multi for your is max x8 i think , so 450 x 8 should be achievable, safe cpu volts on air i dont know for your cpu

Indeed. i'll give it a go. To be honest Im not sure if q9450 is completely supported by this MB.
For instance when running the asus ai suite to run a cpu benchmark, the pc just freezes.

I have the Q9450 in this board running the 1004 BIOS. When I first powered up it was under clocking the cpu at 2003 Mhz as it had set the multiplier at x6.

I am a little confused with regards the temperature of the cpu, as Asus PC probe reports the temp as 27oC and Real temp reports the cores as 35 39 43 43. What temperature is pc probe monitoring. I tried core temp but that seems to be about 15oC higher.

Received and installed. Just reinstalling Vista then I'll unleash the overclock. Hoping for 3.6 stable if not more. Moved some crap around in my case and it's like a freezer in there and the water pipes feel cooler to touch.

So what am I doing wrong then? :(

sorry didnt get the bottom pics first time , try these

obviously your ram may be different and you perhaps dont need so high on the nb , cpu pll , but the gtl , loadline cal ect should be the same

@ MilanoChris:

No way you need that much NB voltage for 400 FSB, even with 4x1gb, and shouldnt need to up the PLL voltage by much at all either. Similar for the SB voltage, drop that back to 1.05v or 1.075v

I'd take the OC from CPU level up off too, just leave it on auto. Main thing is to enable loadline calibration imo.

Whats your highest stable FSB so far?

New to overclocking so please go easy on me.

Spec: Maximus Formula Bios: 0907
E2200 (till I can afford Q6600)
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PQ PC2-8000C5
Xigmatek HDT-S1283

I’ve managed to get to 2.80 (280fsb x10) running prime and orthos 24 hours stable, however I want to get to 3ghz stable, which from what I’ve read should be possible, but as soon as I up the fsb I get a failed oc at boot. I’ve set my DRAM voltage to 2.1, everything else is set to auto, my temps are all below 45c under load, so there’s no problem with heat.

Should I increase my cpu voltage?

Could anyone give me some advice as to what bios settings work best to achieve a 3ghz oc, and what ram multi should I use with this ram?

I’m not after a full breakdown, just a starting point to work from. :)
Cheers
