No its a x38 chipset ddr2 only no matter what you do to the bios

Anyone? It doesn't hold the FSB settings, tried 1004 and 0907 BIOS versions and the same on both. Settings pretty much as in post #151.

Does it reboot back as default setting even if you do just a restart

when you change fsb and save and exit can you see the cpu speed has altered on post when you press tab

I turn the logo off. I set it to 400 fsb, or 380, or 250 etc etc, I save the OC proifile, then F10 to save and exit, it reboots and FSB is always 266.

hi...
My system just ramdonly shut down when i was idle and when i started the system up again it says "northbridge overheat protection F1". My northbridge temp is 39C at the moment, which is fine. Im using the 907 BIOS.

Is this a false alarm?

Theres no way it was overheating.

Thanks.

I always use save and exit from the menu and never used f10 if that makes a difference i dont know

yeah i used the gskill with this board the 2 x 2 gig ones and they worked fine

On page 17 of the downloadable PDF manual of the Maximus it states "This motherboard does not support memory modules made up of 128Mb chips." Is that anything to watch out for?

Guys what is the max safe temperature for Northbridge when under load?

Mine are
MB:32 (when heating is on)
NB: 48-52

MB: 26 (no heating)
NB: 44-46

Just wondering if its too high, as i've read somewhere that 50+ can cause stability problems, which is strange as i've ran orthos over 10 hours with no errors.
If temp is too high would it be worth ungrading my case fans from the supplied Akasa ones in my Eclipse to some better ones, or should I just open a window?:D

I believe max temp is 90 so yours is fine , however cooler the better for top fsb as always
