***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

haha I can picture that. That's the best part of the game in my opinion. Developing your youth players. Nothing beats it. I like to buy in 15/16 year olds with 4-5 star potential and send them out on loans for a few seasons. Not all of them work out especially if they get injured along the way, but one of two out of a handful *might* just make it into the first team. How old are your youth players before you think they're ready? I bought a english 19 y/o striker for half a million who had 5 star future potential and he is working out quite nicely but I am playing him in my first team regularly. (I got Bury into the Premiership) so I have some money finally, even though I have a tiny stadium.

I'll quite happily play outfield players from 17 onwards against weaker sides and with sub apps.
It wouldn't be the first time I've gone into a champions league final with 4 under 20s in the side.

Jorge Pinel (signed on a free from Real Madrid at 18) has been a first team regular since I signed him 4 years ago.
Leonal Navarro, Moreno Van De Berg and Jeremy Davison are my other first team strikers and they are all under 21.

Christous Guilliousus has been my first choice left winger since he was 17.

If they are good enough they are old enough.

Just noticed CB Zwane was available! He was in the reserves when he got a long injury, and I forgot about him. He was available from 20 October, and now it is 15 November!! Not happy!

Managed to win the away leg easily, 3-0. I won the African Champions League, creating a record of 51 goals scored!!

They only had 2 players on international duty, the keeper and a (very good) winger. The reserve keeper was my keeper, but he was crap and I sold him. Unsurprisingly, he played crap for Olympic Pirates, and I only had 3 shots on target, and all 3 went in :D :D :D

Now, we wait to go to North America!

I'm going to stop playing for now, as I start exams on Monday. Hopefully, I will continue in Summer....if I can resist.

HAHA! You'll be back :p

Please do America from the MLS as well, just have to pile on the challenge with the budget cap... (plus in my save Rhodes has ended up there on a free so some amazing designated player should turn up there!)

Could be a number of things - are you using creativity or not? Also, what about your tactics? Are they fluid or rigid?

I've made a few changes.

I've changed my team to balanced and also set my wingers/IF to support rather than attack.

I seem to be playing more to a plan now and there seems to be more teamwork. I had 30 shots in a 3-2 victory over Chelsea earlier.

I've also finally found out that playing a deep lying midfielder (defend) and an attacking playmaker (support) together works well.

Looks like being a tight finish to the season. At the moment there are 5 points between the top 6 teams with around 11 games of the season to go. :)

Just done the treble with Newcastle on my 8th season in classic mode, signed a young striker from Inter for 28 million and he has been worth every penny. Won the League Cup, FA Cup & Champions League!

Finished 3rd in league which is a shame as I would have liked to win everything in one season but I think I'm asking too much of Newcastle!

Anybody ever bought Rani Khedira? Just wondering whether to take a punt on him in the first season, I scouted him and he seems to have decent potential. Otherwise it'll be Kevin Pannewitz who I go for at the end of the season when Wolfsburg won't be able to command a big fee.

I'm thinking to stop Sunday, as next week I have 2 easy exams, so I can hold out a bit more :D

MLS is so confusing though, I have no idea what is happening. I don't want to get bitten by the rules. Some amazing players turn up, that is true. Dzeko used to play in the MLS for me, but there are some sick Mexican youths who would do great int he CL.

I applied for Monaco. They are doing great (2nd in CL group with 6 pts in 4 games, they lost both games to the amazing Roma) and 6 pts away from 1st place with 3 games less. Tempted to just sign a 7 month contract until summer, then try and go elsewhere.

Ah mls just has strick contracts between status in the team, pretty easy if you sit down and write it out as you can only really have a set number of players plus designated players.

I say give it a bash and learn by trying...

Injuries in this game are absolutely ludicrous. I'm not on high training or anything stupid like that and have 7 first team players out. I am playing Champions League games with 4 subs...

edit: playing high possession tactics are fun but my God you just never score, create about 1-2 CCCs per game only. Never concede though which I guess is nice.

Looks like an exciting end to the season. :)

I have to play Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in my last 8 games. My last 2 games are Liverpool and Man City!

Struggling to get into the top 4 with my Liverpool team. Only signed Honda on a free, and some newgen keeper. Season 3 starts and had mixed results, in the top half 5 games in. Man Utd have not won a game yet, and Barca finished 7th in La Liga 2nd season, all their players want out. Tried a cheeky bid for Messi, got accepted, but 'cos I haven't got CL football he wouldn't come :(

This game is rubbish, nowhere near realistic! Wolves always get promoted to the premier league. lol

Sounds realistic to me.

So I didn't get the Monaco job (they still haven't chose a manager, over a month later) and I applied for the Leverkusen job (pretty much same thing, 2nd in CL, 2nd in league with a game less) and they are also taking ages to answer me. In the mean time, I played the CWC.

I lost the first game 1-0 to Seognam (ex-team) then I beat Real Salt Lake for 5th place. Not that bad (lol, before last!!!)

Now I applied for Napoli, who are 3rd just a few points from top, and they offered me a contract!! In the meantime, Real Salt Lake manager went to Betis, and they already qualified for the Quarter Final of the N.A. CL, so technically, I can finish the Pentagon Challenge in 6 months (in game). Napoli offered me a contract, and Real Salt lake haven't gotten back to me.

Delayed for 2 weeks.

If RSL don't get back to me, i'm off to the Serie A (at least fro 6 months). I know I'm leaving anyways, so I'm holidaying the games (LOL NOOB!!!!!!!!!).

EDIT: For some reason, RSL took some other guy. Going to Napoli.

EDIT 2: They wanted to give me a 4 year contract for 40k/w. I wanted a 6 months, obviously, and I asked for 19k/w. They accepted lol.
