Yeah I had to do that a few times as well, got a bit carried away :p
I don't think I got carried away that much. I think it was more me getting very angry with what I was seeing from the match engine and basing my team talks at half-time on that.

I can't actually remember which experience I selected now.
I normally go for the lowest one, yes it's hard taking over Man Utd but at least I can't be expected to be the next SAF! :p
 
I took the plunge. Only played for about 30 minutes, good to see the interface is a bit different, the loading screens etc needed a bit of an update.

Match engine really dosn't look to great, and this is something they could look into in the future.

Couple of nice new features, the meetings when taking over the club adds a different spin to it.

Gone as Liverpool, but will probably restart as Palace as I prefer to have the oppotunity to really improve a club (normally fail but oh well!)
 
I have bashed FM13 many times on here and I will again, it is so erratic and only picking the correct options will you win no matter what team you are and who you are playing, not enough is made of the players attributes it is more about what you tell them and who you instruct them or line your team up against the opposition, you can not play your way and win, I played as Glasgow Rangers and won every division with record points(except for the 1st) even the first year in the SPL and won it twice in a row now, Chelsea on the other hand I beat Lyon in a friendly 2-0 then lost 6-0 to Guangzhou then beat City 3-2 then lost at home to Norwich and Fulham both at home! I would like to be able to get my money back and just stick with 09/10/11/12 or CM01/02.
 
I play it when I miss it and realise why I shouldn't miss it, I go back to older games and other saves but they really should have moved further on since FM09.
 
Finished my first full season and it was with Crewe. Signed Scott Wootton for £275K at Christmas and Ryan Tunnicliffe for £75K. Still had £4M to spend :eek: never mind. I won the league by 1 point on the last day...Exciting times. Now I just need to build a good defence for Championship...Max Clayton top scorer in the league with 37 goals...higher than anyone else in the world on my save...
 
Well, I am waiting until the next patch or something and then try this game again. I agree with Giburrows a little. Too much is been made of team talks and changing your tactics based on who you are playing. Maybe this hasn't been the same for everyone, but, it's definitely the case for me.

I liked the previous versions because I could build a team and play the way I wanted to play. The tactics I used were based on the players I had and what I could afford to get on the transfer market and made sure I had appropiate cover for each position.

With FM2013 I can't seem to get that going at all. Even watching the matches it's plain that they want you make changes all the time based on what's happening.

I just feel something has been lost by focusing on the unimportant things, like the team talks for example, which in real life don't make that big a difference most of the time.
 
I'm still having issues with the loan system. Posted about it on their own forums and the response was that most EPL teams apparently think their youngsters will gain better experience whilst playing U21 and reserve team football, than playing first team football in the Championship, League One or League Two. Not only does this strike me as odd, but it's also not very realistic!

also, is there not a patch/tweak out this week too?

Sensible question here, can coaches fail their coaching qualifications??? I signed Edgar Davids to my backroom staff at Bishops Stortford in the second season and the little "he's doing a coaching qualification" leaves it ambiguous if he'll pass...

Thought it would be funny to fire him if he fails :D

I've had some bloke report back twice saying "he's not doing very well and needs more time to take the exams"

anyone had the tax issue come up or have they fixed this?

Ahahaha! That's not going to be good if half my staff fail the 1.5k exams! (need that money)

What's the tax issue? Haven't seem many stupid problems so far...

Haha - not that obvious I'm afraid.

In certain situations they screwed up the various tax contributions a team has to make (VAT, corporation tax and NI contributions), and these can't be rectified in game - i.e. only apply once a new save has been started.

In some cases it's calculated tax multiple times and teams have found that after the first season or two, you end up paying out a huge chunk of your turnover as tax. Obviously, FM had been understating the necessary tax contributions teams have to make, but it seems they've massively ramped it up by accident and, in Italy for example, certain clubs were paying tax TWICE :eek:

Rather annoying that it only kicks in after a couple of seasons, but don't know how widespread it is!

OK, it's gone very quiet in this thread since the update was released.

Has it made a difference? Is the game better now and you are all too busy playing?
 
So much to update you on.

So as I said, I got sacked from Defensa y Justicia and I started applying for jobs. I finally decided to go for Chunnam Dragons (Top Division in Kirea). They were mid/low table, but at least it was a job.

Once again, i wasn't doing to well, losing a lot of games that I should be winning. At one point though, i went on a 5 game winning streak, which then ended abruptly. 2 games before the end of the season (I was clear of relegation) I got the sack. This time, it was because I applied for a job and they rejected my apology. Once again, i was ok with getting the sack, as I once again wanted to leave.

So once again I went to look for a job. There were very few jobs available and I went for them all. In the end, I got a job with MVV in the 2nd Division in Holland. They had a team with a lot of young players with high potential, but not very high current ability. I started well, with a win, but then formed dropped quickly. I only managed to get 2 draws in 7 games, which obviously is not good at all. Then magically (I was sitting last at this point) my form turned. I managed to beat the two teams just above me in the league, to stir me clear from relegation. With 5 games left in the season, I managed to win 2 and draw 3, ending the season with a 7 game unbeaten streak.

My contract was about to finish in 2 months (end of the season) and I was greeted with this.

The board said that it was satisfied with my job as managed, so I declined the offer, hoping that i would get a contract extension from MVV. Needless to say, i was pretty happy with this offer, because it means I am getting recognition from other managers (heck, I didn't even apply for this job.) Few days later, and I got a contract extension from MVV. 1.6k/w for the next 2 years. Not bad.

I have already gotten 2 players on a free (they are coming soon) and I will be getting rid from a few players who I consider dead wood. My team should be much stronger next season, if I do manage to get the players I want. The budgets are a bit too tight for my liking, meaning that I do not have much room to maneuver, but I feel I can get a bit extra by selling a few players. Hopefully I get a bit more €€€ because there are some interesting free transfers I would like to snap up!

Del Piero got a job at Willem II. Fuming tbh. Not sure how a person who has never managed a club before can get a job at a better reputation club than me! Then again, thats what his name does!

Hoping to battle for a play-off spot next season.
