***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

I would stick with BS. Whats the point going to Tottenham? Let me give you an idea. Imagine you spend 10 years building a building, Then 1/2 years before completion, you go and live in a hotel.

Might as well went to the hotel in the first place, no?

I got this offer some time back (forgot to post):
NikiMicallef_NewsInbox_zpsfc784e34.png

needless to say, didn't accept.

Stick with it ofc! You can always start a new save as spurs if that's what you really want :p awaiting the update that BS wins Champions League...

Haha! Yeah I know my head was saying take the money and build a mad all England squad but my heart wouldn't have been in it.

Looks like another 5 years to get champions league :p (especially now my team is really bloated from getting over excited and buying lots of quality prospects).

Have been offered the Liverpool job as well so have made ulternate universe saves where I take the spurs and liverpool jobs if I ever feel like ruining the careers of players I don't like in real life :D (Liverpool have Abonglahor who would be sold for scrap as soon as I take charge)

Ah, the classic FM LLM dilemma :)

I don't know if 2013 is any different, but in earlier versions I found that despite desperately wanting to take minnows to Euroglory, the board seemingly didn't share my vision/ambition.

"Dear Manager and Club Legend:

We love what you're doing and we can't believe we're in the Premier League after 80 years in the BeezerUnibondSquare Conference League (North). We are seeing unprecedented levels of income, and it's all down to your leadership and skill - without you, we'd still be part-timers.

However, we've had a £2m offer for our star 40-goals-a-season striker that you've nurtured since you spotted him as a promising 16-year-old all those years ago, which we've accepted without giving you a say in the matter. Hope that doesn't inconvience you too much!

Lots of love,

The Board.

PS: We feel that our training facilities are adequate for this level, despite it consisting of mainly tyres, cones and a whiteboard we got from Staples in their closing-down sale, so we're declining your request for that. We owe you everything, of course - as shareholders of this club, if it weren't for you, we personally wouldn't have our Porsches and mansions in Cheshire - but you try giving us an ultimatum and see what happens..."

Only once have I not hit that ambition-ceiling [when I took Como from Serie C2 up to Serie A; I've encountered it in every English league game I've played]. Eventually, it becomes so frustrating that it's time to move on to a club with a grander vision.

EDIT: Does manager salary now play a part in one's score with FM2013? I thought I'd read that somewhere. If so, that's another reason.

Long letter regarding selling a player
Hahaha, good one. i always got the required budgets when I took small clubs to European glory. Although they weren't that small of clubs.

And I don't think manager money is used for anything.
Very long post about BS.

You'll never go to them, trust me, but its good you remained at Bull ****, I mean British Stratford. :D:D:D

Ha! :D

I had one last season as Burton in L1, offered the Blackburn job in the champ and got them promoted (loaned everyone after half the team was sold and not replaced by Pardew). Left them instantly for Everton and turned them into a force (after Redknapp broke them). Just depends on when I get bored of Bishops Stortford or if I really want to do the MLS on this...

Win CL then go MLS.

Anyone else get problems playing this online? The game's are just so slow for the non-hosts. Taking like 30 minutes per match.

Any suggestions?

So I won the game in hand 1-0, to take me just 3 points away 1st place. The next game was easy (on paper) but I managed to draw 0-0  At times, my strikers decide to shut down and not score, which ****es me off!!

Fenerbache obviously won. So now I am 5 points away with like 7 games to go.

There were a few joys though, as I managed to qualify for the last 8 in the Champion's league, in bizarre fashion.

The 2 goals conceded at home were real **** ups from my defense, and I could have avoided them. Dortmund are a good side. They topped the group, and they had Barca in their group!

Barca and Real are out, so I'm hoping to get an 'ok' team next round. Although the other teams are pretty good :P

I might not remain at Galatasaray though. Kaiser Chefs sacked their manager and I applied. I'm not 100% sure about them though. last season they finished 4th, and this season they sit 11th!! Although they are predicted 2nd, and 2 years ago, they won the league. I might go and start a long journey there. Who knows.

EDIT: They didn't take me. Reason: They didn't have money to pay compensation, which is fair enough :p I'm on a 25k/w wage and have another year. I was thinking about this compensation thing, but didn't want to just leave and hope they take me.

So after saying 'never again' grabbed FM2013 ! could someone kindly direct or link me to a facepack download please ?

I've perused the usual places but can only seem to find individual clubs packs and nothing for all of europe for example.

There's a kind chap who stuck a pack of the best mods in one place. It's a few pages back up this thread. The face packs are great and really add atmosphere but there are still a lot of faces missing even now.

As for shirts and things I haven't been able to find a collection of those apart from the one I mentioned above. It looks like you need to source individual packs yourself.

A couple of screen shots

My best find. Everton had him for a couple of seasons and were in the Championship. I'd just got promoted to the EPL and had to beat Spurs and Arsenal to his signature

Got this guy for £3.7m from Brighton where he'd not really had much game time. Currently the only English Wonderkid and had an decent first season with me. Reckon his mental attributes will be awesome in a few years and will turn into an excellent DM

Picked this guy up for free a few seasons back. Didn't rate him and loaned him out back to Romanian teams for two seasons. Sold my better CB at the beginning of last season and still wasn't convinced about this (he was on transfer list by request and worth £250k) but he was rated 5 stars by all my staff so gave him a run out in the first few games of the season. He finished the season with the highest average rating - the only player on 8.00+ - and was worth £18m by the end of the year. I still don't get it though :p

Currently attracting loads of interest, very decent right winger. Was in the process of having an £18m offer for him accepted and then noticed he was out of contract in just less than a year, so waited and got him on a free:

Bought this guy for £10.5m last summer. Certainly not worth it, but was 16 years old and I have a general belief that at 16 their attributes can rise by 5 points by the time they've hit seniority (17 years old may rise by 4, etc.) - obviously this is complete rubbish but how I rate youth players when purchasing:
2013-01-05_00010_zps4f414cbe.jpg
I only had a £10.5m budget and annoyingly I don't feel that's enough to by the excellent players I need, but also not worth buying a couple of £5m players as they wouldn't improve the squad enough.

Also, a couple of guys I'd love to be able to afford... Almost signed the English one when he was on a youth contract but didn't offer enough. Blackburn sold him to Liverpool the season before last and he finished top scorer in the EPL in his first year.

OMG! How on earth do you get those players so tuned? My best player is currently £850k, and that's after a good season.

Scouting, and having an awesome coaching set up. Scouting wise I have as many of them as possible, however I spend a horrible amount of time scouting as well. 3-4 times a season I'll look at every international team squad list (including u21 and u19) to look at their generated players - mainly European, South American and African. Although I'd certainly recommend looking at teams in Costa Rica and Honduras as they come cheap as anything (less than £10k) and can be awesome, but it all depends on your database size and settings.

With regards to coaching, I always tend to find the better coaches are those which the game throws up - I.e. not generated coaches, but ex-players whom become coaches as their activities can shoot up at short notice. Off to Southend away in the FA Cup now, but when back later I'll try to post my coach lists.

I'll also do systematic searches through teams transfer activity, particularly those leaving on free transfers and youth transfers out of the club. In Europe you have to do this around 20th May, 20th June and then early July. There is a post on their forums which lists most leagues and their respective dates (when the season ends, as this will be when clubs release players). Also, you can add columns into squad lists which mean you can order by minimum fee release clause or second nationality (very handy when trying to sign decent non-EU players)

Some very nice signings there mate! Well done! Is that 21 year old striker home grown? At what age did you buy him?

It's his third season now, so I imagine 19 when I picked him up. I tend to search most UK teams youth squads on the day of intake, and then you can plot your buys a season or two (or three) in advance.
