******* Official Football Manager 14 Thread *******

I know it's a cop-out but because I hadn't played the game for ages I thought I'd make it easy on myself and start with City. I didn't buy anyone but comfortably won the PL, League Cup and Europa (:D)

The next season though is ridiculous, strengthened my team with Kroos, Reus, Varane and Ter Stegen and now can't win for love no money. Getting beat at home by Everton and Villa when I didn't lose a home game last season, the game is so bizarre.

Are you fluid in your tactics? It takes a good few months to become fluid, and when you introduce new players, your team cohesion takes a BIG knock. It might just be that causing you teething problems.

I used the formation in the first season throughout, I'm 12 games into the second season and I've kept the same formation but with better players. I don't think I can perceiver with it if I'm getting beat at home etc.

I've given up now. Raaage quit.

This is maybe your problem if you don't change their roles/instructions either. Best to play to their advantages, I very rarely change formation unless I want to be super defensive. It's all about the player instructions. Also I've found quite a few players take a long time to settle in, arrange a load extra friendly matches for them to play in at the same time if they suck at first.

The same formation is great but 12 games into a new season with lots of new players is nowhere near enough. It's irrelevant that they are better quality. In pre-season you need to set training levels to high and team cohesion. The other tab needs ideally to be set to tactics only. This is the quickest way to a fluid and cohesive team when the season starts. Even then it takes a good few months for them all to gel. The only way round this is to keep with the same players season through season.

I'm sure cup draws are rigged. No matter what level I always seem to draw the favourite or a difficult team, I blame the corrupt FA!
The number of times I get a tough Premier League team but Chelsea/City/Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs get a Championship or even a League One team is ridiculous!!:o

Thanks I persevered and you are indeed correct, I'm now on a 38 unbeaten record, not sure how, I seem to grind out results. Worst mistake I did was selling Hart and bringing in ter Stegen, my defensive record is quite woeful despite having the same back line and CM's as last season, I can only imagine the change in keeper has changed things. He isn't achieving a 7.0 avg rating neither.

Started a new game as Schalke, Kevin-Prince Boateng is absolutely dire and doesn't fit into my system at all, Huntelaar started the season on fire and then went 300 minutes without scoring a goal, Adam Szalai is permanently injured and I have no money. :p

Got bored and started a new game with every league heh half a star performance :P

Sunday league experience, unemployed, just been offered to manage Brescia B team hehe,

It's plowing through also, this performance star business seems to make no difference, anyone else notice this?

How do you mean? Makes a lot of difference to me. All the players will be able to play to a certain level of course, but only the ones with 3/4 stars plus will be capable of improving in your team. I always think of the potential rather than their current ability. It takes roughly a season for a player to integrate and improve by a star or so, depending on training facilities and game time.

Sorry should have been specific, I meant the star/speed rating it gives your game when you first start

Oh :D. Mine is 1 star lol.. Feels like it at times too, but I have 105,000 players in an advanced database, but only playing with English and Scottish leagues to speed it up a bit.
