**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

Which PCI slot should be used for the latest PCI-E 3.0 cards? I've been using the PCIEX4 slot (the one closest to the bottom of the mobo) as this one is the slot that only works when an ivybridge processor is installed (and thought PCI-E 3 needed ivybridge?), and assumed this was the only slot for PCI-E 3.0. Is this right can/should any of the other slots be used for PCI-E 3.0?

Did look into this when I first got the mobo (over a year ago) but now quesitoning if this is right?

If you are referring to using a GFX card then you should have it fitted to the first long slot (2nd from top)

All three long slots (physical 16X length but electrically connected at 16X,8X,4X) are PCI-E3.0 with a Ivybridge CPU fitted.

I was indeed. Have now moved GC to correct slot.Thanks.

When I power on my PC with this board it switches on for a few seconds with no display, then powers totally off for a few seconds, then starts up again and boots as normal. Has anyone else had this issue or similar? I don't think I am on the latest bios but I am going to update it tonight and see if that helps.

That happens to me when my BIOS setting is bugged and it doesn't save it. The best way to fix it is to hold the CMOS_SW button on the motherboard, let go and let it boot, enter BIOS and load optimized defaults. Then set it up how you want it.

I think this can be solved by flashing both BIOS chips to the same version and using the same settings on both.

I have tried resetting the bios and it still does the same. Although I don't think I have ever touched the backup bios so maybe I should reset that aswell?

I think both bios's are at the same version because I have never flashed either of the bios's and they are as it came. I have never used he second bios though so I will switch over to it and configure it the same as my main bios and see if that helps. In all honesty it isnt really a problem but I wasn't sure if this is normal or not.

new bios sorted the clicking on the hard drives, when you enable fast boot.

As for fast booting with M4 as boot drive, and 3 2tb satas attached, its a joke, well over a minute, why does it take so long with extra drives attached you dont even boot from?

With the M4 on its own, its under 20 seconds.

^^^^ that always used to happen for me with a number of mechanical HD's fitted and a SSD as my boot drive. No system variables or "my documents" or apps or games etc pointed to any of the mwchanical drives, and the SMART function was always disabled, and yet the boot times always took ages when they were connected.
Now I have three SSD's (M4 boot SSD and 2 Samsung 830 pro's) and one 1TB mechanical drive fitted and, for some reason, the boot time is as fast as it would be with a single SSD.

Strange for sure, albeit I generally use the S3 sleep function.

Just to say I don't have this issue with 2x hdd and booting off 1x ssd.

Anyone had '02' or '03' debug codes pop up at all?. Having a few problems with games crashing and this time my pc froze and displayed '03 or o3' debug code, as well as 02 another time.

These codes don't appear in the booklet and googling reveals nothing
