***Official GTX 670 thread***

I meant why turn it on :p
Ahh, got ya now. I tried it when bf3 was released, set everything to the max. Ran the game to see how it went, then turned off various things till i found the sweet spot, disabled msaa and HBAO as they were the main fps killers. Now i just use FXAA set to high, did experiment with the fxaa injector, but it blurred ingame text too much.

First run of a single GTX670 Phantom stock:

unigine_20120517_1748_unclocked.jpg

According to Afterburner:

Max gpu temp - mostly 79 but touching 80 (I would think this is quite warm from what I've read)
Max fan speed - 73 (although the number's high it's actually quieter than my previous 570 at the same speed)
Max core clock - 1202

Didn't record the memory speed :rolleyes:

Going to see what I can squeeze out of this one before trying the other to see if there's a difference between the two. Then both together. If anyone's interested.

So despite being clocked higher than the Gigabyte, due to the worse cooling it's throttling the clocks more and so scores slightly lower at stock than my Gigabyte.

only benchmark i'll probably be running, rest will be in game tests, just cause 2 concrete jungle with 3D vision enabled. the other 2 benches are almost locked at 60fps this is one bench tho that i've always found super demanding, using actual in game settings (medium shadows is to stop the slowdown in long grass, can't tell difference visually)

people probably wont be too impressed considering it's sli but i know how badly my old cards (480, 560 sli, 680) struggled on this

New bench tonight.

Room is very warm so temps hit 82c, Fan never got above 60% speed with Auto profile.

Power = 122
Core = +125
Mem = +200

Just an update from this.

The card is performing great, but the fan is starting to pee me off now. I think I may have to DSR it as I'm not happy with the noise & having come from Sapphire Xtreme 5850's in crossfire it's noisier by far.

May have to get a custom cooled one like the GB Windforce instead.

Ok so I just checked my BF3 settings (via BF3 settings editor) and it appears I'm using ultra pre-set with 2x msaa, AA-Post on medium, motion blurr disabled and AO set to HBAO.

Along with forcing fxaa via nvcp what else should I be changing? Don't get me wrong its nice and smooth with the above but if I can make it even better then boost!

Edit: Little question about FXAA, if I force this for all 3d applications via nvcp, does that mean I don't need to bother with AA settings in any game?

Alright gaz, you still playing BF3? my mic's bust so haven't been on TS for a while.

Not at the moment, although I keep trying to find time to play. :D

Between work & MMO's time is limited.

Want to see how well the 670 plays BF3 tbh, but might wait until I switch the card out for a custom cooler type as the reference one is too loud in my case. :(

oh & drop by the website H, we've upgraded it :D

So far with the following:

Gainward 670 Phantom:

Max core - 1283
Max mem - 6450 (3225 on afterburner)
Max temp - 82
Max fan - 76

Time to see what the other one's got.

windforce quieter, much quieter, and much cooler, clocking better as well ;)

How do you know they are quieter? 3 fans vs 2? Yeah that makes sense. Have you heard the phantom? Didn't think so, so it's your opinion, not fact.

Just because they run at different fan speed doesn't mean you can make a judgement call with no factual evidence.

I'm glad your happy with your Gigabyte Windfugly, additional miniscule fps and superhero hearing. Seriously, I am.

People come in here to share info, help others and there's always some who just want to pee on your parade.

Windforce>phantom

simply because Gigabyte CS>Gainward CS

Also, judging by reviews, the windforce cards and phantoms are both very similar performers. Phantom 2.5 slots are quieter, otherwise, both dual slot cards are similar
