Official iPad (2012 model) Accessories Thread

Confirmed. Looks like the folks stateside are getting their Lexingtons delivered at the moment and so far the Sleep/Wake function doesn't work on them, from various posts on MacRumours. Looks like Apple changed the way the magnets work in the iPad3.

Best to hold off your orders until they sort out their production issues.

I've ordered a black Incipio Smart Feather - I think it will be the perfect companion to my black smart cover.

Got my Belkin Snapshield Secure and Mediadevil Magicscreen crystal clear edition yesterday.

I've fitted the Snapshield and although it's designed for the iPad 2 it fits the 3 perfectly and adds almost no tangible bulk :D

Not got round to the Screen protector yet, still plucking up the courage! (£15 for two).

I've also bought the Belkin slip case which is quality and a fake smart cover which to my eyes looks like a real one but I'm too scared to use it because it looks as if it could scratch my iPad!!!!

Still waiting for my Colcasac. Got a UPS number but I can't get it to work. Should have got a cheapie back up case as I'm not putting it naked in my work bag for nights this week.

Oh yeah, two things that are cool:

1) Handmade iPad cases on Etsy (not sure if they'll ship to the UK)
2) Those decals that go on the back like I've seen on Macbook Pros. Obviously only good if you go naked, but there's some fun designs out there.

I received the following email from Incipio just a few moments ago regarding the Lexington Sleep/Wake issues.
----

Hi Darren,

Thank you for your inquiry. I am very sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused you. We have cancelled and refunded your order in full as requested.

Please note that we are currently in the process of modifying our Lexington Cases. As mentioned, it has been brought to our attention that a slight modification in the magnet direction in the new iPad is preventing our Lexington Cases from enabling the Auto-Sleep/Wake function on the new iPad. As a result, we are taking the appropriate measure to have these cases revised to ensure that the new cases are fully functional with the new iPad. We anticipate having these available within the next two weeks or so. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Well my Switch Easy Canvas arrived today, absolutely lovely case.

However after a 20 minute battle I've managed to ruin the screen protector. Can anybody get those damn things on without leaving bubbles on the screen? I'd actually pay to see it.

Also my Charcoal one is having issues with the Auto Sleep / Wake thing not working.

Looks like I'll be sending off an email to them.

2nd attempt at putting screen protector on =( a couple of small dust bubbles at the top and left side -- I could deal with this. But around the home button there is just to many, even with the screen on it looks stupid.

Got my prototype iPad Fatsac in the mail. Came with a load of wadding and memory foam - the latter definitely works better. Got a few areas that can be improved upon and it will take a while to work out the right amount of memory foam chunks to use inside to balance malleabliltiy and support but it's working out pretty well as is so shouldn't need too many revisions.

If anyone has any interest in a simple one-piece, parts free means of comfortably using the iPad with both hands in bed, on the sofa, in your lap and so on, that you can step on/throw at people's heads and avoids 'iPad wrist' and awkward typing angles, watch this space...

Just rec'd my lexington, but there's a few things I'm not too impressed with.

1.\ The supposedly magnetic cover, doesn't do jack.

2.\ You have to manually pull the leather insert out of the strap fitment and fiddle around to put it back in. I'd of love to seen this magnetic to hold the cover in place, and not have to mess around with trying to feed a piece of leather into a sleeve every time i want to open and close.

Other than those two BIG gripes, the case is very well built. Fits the new iPad perfectly.

I may send this back and go with an Incipio Feather and official apple cover. Not sure yet. The Lexington though well built will just wind me up.

Just got my Cygnett Lavish Earth Brown Folio case. Very impressed. Looks mighty smart and the colours really compliment the white. Definitely recommended.

Well got my free MediaDevil screen protectors replacements today. The first one I messed up, the second is nearly perfect. I'm happy, 3 very small bits of dust in different places.

I'm sure there's a loss of quality (well there will be some, more then I expected though)
Need to go into town and compare. Hopefuly though as the sun is out the fingerprints and glare won't be as bad.

Picked up a belkin snap on back cover and a genuine leather smart cover (in tan) today and really pleased with both - great combination.

Does this belkin snap on hold the smart cover in place too as I read some snap on hold the smart cover in place to make it more practical ie not dropping off

No, it doesn't make any contact with the smart cover at all. I wasn't aware the smart cover dropping off was an issue - I certainly can't see it being a problem, the magnets hold it very securely.
