Official iPad (2012 model) Accessories Thread

Gelaskin - that's the way I'm going I think.
Would agree, but they quite expensive. From Gelaskin themselves it costs £22.70 with shipping which "Up to 20 Business Days No tracking available" or £31 for "4-6 Business Days Trackable at UPS.com"

I wonder how well the ones for the iPad 2 fit, well Gelaskins on the website are saying for the iPad 2 and the new iPad, so should be fine. In that case I would try and find one on amazon because they range in price.

I like those gelaskins but I prefer a silicone case that covers the sides and home button as well.

Something like this but a cheaper knock off for £3...

That way I know with a screen protector it's almost 100% covered and I just clean the screen protector with a baby wipe :D

Granted they are not the most beautiful but they provide extra grip in the hand and I can then just slot it in a bag without fear of damage to edges etc.

The iPad2 Gelaskins would most likely fit ok but the diameter of the new ipads camera lens is larger than the 2's I think, so you'd have to use a sharp knife/scalpel to increase the camera cutout on the gelaskin.

I'm tempted to buy a gelaskin from overseas :/

Wish they just did the original official iPad 1 case for the 3 - I don't like the smart cover.
There not really comparable, I'm using a smart cover at the moment and chucking it in the belkin sleeve when out. Making sure I keep the back of the iPad on a surface which won't scratch it etc.

I think the smart cover looks nice and feels nice, the price tag is stupid though. I love the sleep mode feature, something really simple but I like it. That's the selling point over the smart cover, it protects the screen only.

The original case protected the whole device well from scratches.. Surely there has to be some extremely thin folio case out there...My only problem with the original case is that I couldn't push the volume buttons without sticking my finger in (it was difficult) and that it got very dirty!

Thank you for the email! No, we actually changed our iPad 2 template to accommodate the differences in the new iPad, so the ones we will be shipping will be different than the iPad 2 skins :). I hope that answers you! Thanks and have a great day!

Gelaskins look nice, might try & design one/get one designed by a friend!

Any ideas on a simple, good, hard folding case for the IP3? Just using something like this, £7 jobby on my old iPad1.

Who ever got colcsac can the new iPad with smart cover fit in?

With both the iPad 2 and this one, you specify whether it's for a naked iPad or one w/smart cover, as to get a snug fit for both requires a minor sizing adjustment.

Also, I've come up with a great idea for an iPad case, of sorts. Cliff notes on how you get from prototype (quite feasible for me) to finished article please lol.

Meh, sod my idea. Getting this:

Don't really want to give my money to that poison dwarf in Germany, but this is easily the best 'for bed/sofa' thing I've seen - not least because you can just lob it across the room when you're done with it.

Hi there

Yes it will fit with the smart cover on, its a bit of a close/tight fit but I would imagine after a few weeks of use the case will stretch a bit.

At least with a slight tight fit it will not fall out of the colcsac which is a bonus.

Hope this helps?

When you order you're given the option of:

iPad
iPad 2 naked
iPad 2 w/smart cover
iPad 3rd gen naked
iPad 3rd gen w/smart cover

Probably minor size differences, but enough to mean a smart cover Colcasac will be easier to pop the appropriate iPad w/cover in.
