Just bought two from my local Voda shop, one for me and the other for my wife. This time my SD tray worked and both are unlocked with codes for just over a fiver for them both.

Very impressed with one of those clock cases, enabled wireless charging as well.

Good buy and registered them both with LG for warranty etc.

Reports from hukd are saying those handsets with 511 at start of the serial number on box cannot be unlocked via ebay codes as they are too new and imei isn't on the unlocking servers yet, 5 is 2015 and 11 is production month November

Yeah I read that too.

When I went to my local store I noted the red leather back was 509 and the grey plastic was 510. Whilst I would have liked a leather back it didn't really matter as I have it in a cheap, but good, clock case.
Both unlocked fine, as noted, although I didn't get a warning about a non network sim card inserted and had to do a bit of jiggery pokey to get the screen up to enter in the code I was provided.

That worked out a tthe same time I migrated over from a nano SIM to a Micro one and so until GiffGaff processed that, 20 mins or so, I didn't know if the unlock codes worked - but they did.

I use LG Bridge last night to upgrade mine to Marshmallow and that went well.


Good news, for me, is that the camera is miles better than the Ultra 6 it will replace.

What did you do to get the screen to appear to unlock it mate ?

I've got the code and a three sim but can't get it to prompt me, I've been told to

1. Power on your phone with the SIM card of the network to which the phone is locked
2. Enter 2945#*71001# or 2945#*Model Number#
3. A menu will pop up, select Unlock USIM then Network
4. Enter code sent and press ok

Example: For LG G4 (LG-H815) please dial 2945#*815#

But I don't have a voda sim for step 1 lol. Is this needed ?

EDIT: sorted it, i had to choose Network Lock instead of Unlock USIM

^^^^ Sorry only just read your post, yeah the Network lock is the one I used on both of them.


I take it that you are unlocked now...?
 
Mine came today from Vodafone and have to say mighty impressive phone. Soon updated to M6.0 , have a llumia 950 and this is a much nicer phone all round and a bargain price to boot.
 
A pity that you couldn't get Amazon to price match. I would rather deal with Amazon than either of the other two.
 
Only downside to this phone is the God awful on screen buttons , could they have made them any bigger, anyway of making them smaller as I don't like the swipe up part to show

I think sadly the screen is just borked as I could have WhatsApp open and every now and again a random character will be typed into the chat box without me touching the screen at all. Strangely enough it doesn't seem to happen when the phone's on charge but it gets really bad when it's low on battery and sending texts or browsing the internet is almost impossible.

I've RMA'd it so hopefully the replacement will be coming in the next few days. :)

Late to the party, however G4 on it's way to replace my busted Xperia Z Ultra and Lumia 930 (Lumia not busted, just miss my Googlefoo).
