The cast is brilliant for this, especially this girl who plays Miranda Lawson.

Yvonne Strahovsk, also modelled on her too.

I can't say i'm surprised there seems to be a significant difference in the 'hooters' department...

I've still not completed the first :/ I really must, although I need to find my save game as I really cba doing all those hours again -.-

Fairly easy to find, saved in Bioware/Mass Effect in your My Documents (at least mine was on Vista/Win7). Even better is that the achievements i'd unlocked stuck too, so i still only need the Codex Entries and Stasis 75 times (a completely useless Biotic...).

Preordered my Steam copy today :D.
Am just finishing up the characters I want to use for ME2, am a bit annoyed that I have to trawl through the game and all of the achievements again on the PC as I finished the game on the 360 before I got my PC.
Anyway, am really looking forward to this, will be interesting to see how much more dark the game is.

They're one of the few remaining games magazines I'd trust to any degree. They do score harshly, in their view 5/10 is an average game that has nothing really wrong with it but just does things by the numbers.

For reference they gave MW2 9/10.

PC Gamer review is up too. 90/100, saying

"Faster paced action and difficult ethical decisions make Mass Effec 2 even more immersive than the excellent original."

Although some of their notes, especially this, worry me:

"character development(skills) has also been culled down to six or seven upgradeable skills for shepard and just four for companions.

More details here (with some very very minor spoilers):
Bioware Forum clicky

PC gamer always vote 90/100, i think it's their favourite number. If they had a hand in the game, it would be 100/100.

Hm...a few things that worry me (spoilers avoided)

The levels are attractive, but a bit blocky and workman like. Some have inexplicable waist-high barriers that pop out of the ground when combat begins to provide cover. It's so contrived it feels like an in-joke for cover-based shooter players.

I used to hate the obviously-placed cover items in ME1, seems like they've made it even more obvious in 2...surely there's a more subtle way of doing it??

And in a double-edged sword...

"While bioware have done a wonderful job in tying up the story between both games, there are a few holes in the continuing story that shepard could drive a fist through: <removal of spoliers stories regarding important parts of ME1 that aren't even referenced in ME2> but i'd still rank ME2 as better written, better acted and better looking than all but the very best of the past decade of science fiction television and film."

The former is a bit of a shame, and the latter sounds overly melodramatic. HOWEVER they do mention that the ending is absolutely epic

So is the boxed Collector's Edition missing out on some of the in-game items in the Digital Deluxe Edition?

Was planning on getting a boxed copy but abusing that voucher code on EA Store again seems awfully tempting...

I was sure I wanted to play as Vanguard but Soldier is pretty tempting now..

I like my assault rifles!

Apparently you can get assault rifles with other classes if you research them, im not sure on the exact details but it has been confirmed(not sure if its a new game+ thing or something you have access to later in the game).

LMGs should do a better job wasting everything in sight which only available to soldiers. It was funny reading about it on the bioware forums because some people were happy that other classes were getting access to ARs while some of the people who wanted to be soldiers were throwing their toys out of their pram because soldier lost one of its exclusive weapons. You just cant please people.

I am also considering speccing soldier aswell, which makes it 3 classes i have to chose from.

Soldier does sound very tempting now i'll admit...

Did they change the 'overheat' thing? It looked very much like the guns were using a clip, unless that was special ammo types, i dunno. Then again i've not seen Biotic/Tech footage so they could look just as sweet.

I played a sniper/sabotage in the original, but if we can have Ar now that would be great as sniper is good a mid to far range but when they got close the pistol just wouldnt cut it.

Are you kidding? A Pistol with Master Marksman could shred ANYTHING with insanely rapid fire with almost no chance of overheating and if i recall its cooldown was pretty low too.

I did think it was annoying that you could only unlock a skill of your choice after you'd got the achievement for using it/killing with it, there really wasn't a good reason to not allow you to do that on your first playthrough.
