*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

Different strokes and all that but I like Prey a lot more. I thought MD was a massive disappointment and only clocked 20 hours. Gameplay was a step up from HR but the Story and characters were a massive letdown for me and that's pretty key in a Deus Ex game. It was a solid (read: 'meh') game in its own right but a far cry from what I expect from a DE game.

I liked the story for what it was - a very low key thing, simply an investigation of a terrorist attack and not much more. But the sidequests were where the game shined and those were pretty excellent.

I liked the game play in Deus Ex: MD, was not a fan of the locale due to it not matching deus ex, but gameplay was damn fun. Problem was the story telling did not live up to my expectation which ruined the experience a bit.

I loved Prague. Not just because I am from Czechland and visually they quite nailed it (even if they butchered the language), but it was the densest most detailed city hub in a Deus Ex game to date, very atmospheric. Especially at night it reminded me of Vampire Bloodlines quite a bit (in fact the game as a whole is more related to VTMB than to Deus Ex 1).

Anyone else getting bad stuttering when walking or running? Also, massive framedrops after a while when outside spacewalking. I have a 5820k@4GHz, a Gtx 1080, a Dell S2716DG 27" 144 Hz 1440p Gsync display and 32GB Ram. Windows 10 Creators update.

Not saying there was anything wrong with it, I enjoyed it too. I am saying it did not feel like a Deus Ex setting. When I think of Deus Ex I think USA or China levels. This was very different. For example it looked like Half Life 2, but it really worked very well for me in that game :)

Just expectations and what one is used to I guess.

Are exotic materials used for anything other then neuromods?
Had a bit of a stash now and wondering if I can go mad and make a load of mods.

Loving this game, has that Bioshock feel too it. But for me not sure why but am getting a lot of Duke Nukem vibe from it. Think its the exploration you can do jumping into higher place etc loads of fun. Playing on Hard might have been a silly choice from me.

Two hours in and its been smooth for me. am avg around 60fps mark @1440p 144hz i7 3770k and R9 290 also running Windows Creators update.

I take it all back. This game is brill. I had a major issue initially with outdated drivers, I'm running on Win 7 64 and have not updated anything for a few, well, years actually.

After clearing out and updating a couple of Logitech and Creative things as well as doing a custom Nvidia driver install (HD Audio drivers - grrr) this thing is now running like a dream.

I'm still not that far in. But that bit where you go through the airlock outside for the first time with your jet pack thing on your suit? Felt like a proper Spaceman.

Loving the love that was obviously given to this game.

Wow the difficulty level just spiked big time for me. After no deaths for the first 3 hours I just went in to the Trauma Centre and am getting killed over and over again by the multiple (or is it just 2?! :D) phantoms. Not helped by the fact that my suit integrity is at 0 and I've no repair kits nor found an engineer to repair it yet... I guess I should skip that room for now and come back to it later?

Nah dont skip that room - Something useful in there.

I used 2 recyclebombs to take that dude out.

Really enjoying this so far. I'm 14 hours in and I've only just watched the second part of the video in your office. I've been going back and forth between the first three sections, unocking as much as possibe and exploring everything. Only had one bug so far; I was able to continue to craft items without materials. Ended up with lots of shotgun ammo, then the game crashed.

Shadows bugged for Nvidia? Just watching DigitalFoundry video and in the comments a guy/girl points out the Nvidia GPU is missing shadows cast from the mimic

Go to 2.06
There are lots of shadows missing on the Nvidia side. It's not just Digital Foundry's testing which has shown that either.

Just had this nasty bug (not a big spoiler):

Broken scripting. If anyone encounters this, what worked for me was reloading, and going to Igwe (Black Doctor) first, then to Elazar. Not the other way around.
