*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

Got to the Reactor and the performance absolutely nosedived. Could barely turn on the spot...only in the reactor room itself though, everywhere else, perfectly fine.

16 hours in now and its beginning to drag a bit, kind of just want it to reach the end now.

23 hours here. Still loving it :D

No performance issues. Hardly ever see it go below 60fps at 4K.

38 hours in, still not finished, those sidemissions and exploration take time. I am enjoying it though, the progression from weak to bad azz mothafukah is awesome.

I cannot seem to find this repo man. Have had a quite a few missions bug out on me. I have two main quests and I cannot complete them :(

For this type of game in the future I will wait 3-6 months and get it once it is all beta tested by people paying full price, then pick it up half price.

To be fair they're not the only one who have had that bug, quite a few of the recent steam reviews have mentioned the save game corruption issue. I'd be pretty peeved if that happened to me! I've had a few crashes as well the further into the game I've got (may just be a coincidence), better have a backup of my save folder just in case.

Finished the game. 41 hours, did every single sidemission and had, what I think is, best possible ending.

GOTY, one of the best immersive sim games. Liked it more than System Shock 2.

BTW there is a beta patch you can opt into that fixes some issues. For me the game was bugfree except that one thing with broken script (fixed via reload).

Yeah, I doubt there will be anything else coming out on PC this year to top this game.

Found that tech bot in the end and was able to finish the game. I missed a few optional quests due to bugs, but I will catch them on my 2nd playthrough in a couple of months time once they patch the game a few times.

I actually used mimic only from the alien powers, saving the rest for the next time I play, so it will feel like a new game.

Was this the ending you got?

Did not kill Dahl, saved everyone left alive on ship, was helpful to a bunch of people, saved the dr, blew up the station.

At the end shook Alex's hand instead of killing them all.

Phew...finally completed it, dragged on a little too much toward the end for my tastes, got a bit tired going back and forth between the same areas, but to be fair thats the same complaint that many had about Alien Isolation and that was my game of the year when it came out.

Overall, very happy with the purchase :)
Ending I got was, killed Alex, killed Dahl, saved some of the crew, detonated the neural thing and killed all the typhon, did not destroy the station. End scene about how the mods were the key to immortality. Then in the final post credits scene, the operators and Alex showed me that it had been a "dream" and that the earth had been taken over by typhon and I chose to shake his hand rather than kill them all

I also only used mimic power and nothing else. I will definitely replay it someday and go full blown typhon powers.

For ending,
yeah I stunned Dahl and took his memory, saved everyone and did everything I could to help, destroyed the shuttle that was going to earth, and used the nullwave, having to kill January. Saved Alex as well. And shook Alex's hand at the end. I gotta say I loved the ending twist. I was wondering what those flashbacks that happened few times were about, but playing as a Typhon implanted with human memory did not occur to me. It explained my biggest issue with the game - Morgan being silent protagonist - in a way I found really cool.

But yeah, Alien Isolation, SOMA, Prey. Three seminal modern scifi classics.

I could not get into SOMA after playing it a few hours. Does it get better? I found Prey to be much better than Alien Isolation also. That game was an 8 for me, where as Prey is more like a 9 or 9.5 :)

Its the other way around for me, I have Prey as an 8 and Alien Isolation as a 9/9.5 :D

Part of that is I prefer the length of Alien and part of that is that I have a very special place in my heart for all Alien related things and the game so perfectly captures EVERYTHING about the Alien setting. SOMA I also have and enjoyed it but kind of tailed off playing it part way through and never got the urge to go back and continue it, so I guess like you I played it for a few hours and it just didnt click.

SOMA is effin brilliant in its atmosphere and story. It is shorter and gameplay is obviously much simpler, but it is an experience I will never forget.

Alien Isolation is much simpler and less ambitious storywise, but the complex mechanics and brillliant ALIEN atmosphere makes it a 9 in my book.

Prey is best of both worlds with some added awesomeness on top.

Could anyone help me pls?
objective keeps coming up as dr calvinos workshop but ive been down there, found his secret cubby hole re the vids.
but the mission is still calvinos workshop??

What were people's thoughts about the graphics? I'm playing this at 4K/60hz with everything high and it doesn't really look like a 4k game...not sure if's the textures or just the fact the game isn't pushing the envelope but it doesn't really pop off the screen.

I know Gameplay is king and the game (only 3 hours in) has been good so far.

I recently completed 80 hours of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 900p/30fps so I'm not a graphics snob.

Looks fine imo, not ground breaking but still pretty in places.
The important thing for me is that is looks fine but plays and runs brilliantly. I'm 10 hours in and enjoying it so far, just wish it had a proper FOV slider rather than the bodged cfg mod.
