*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

Think i've gone wrong somewhere, about 12hrs in.

1 of the main missions is now to go to the reactor - which i'm led to believe is quite near the end of the game ?

But i still haven't cleared the lift in the Arboretum and everything is in lock down so i can't travel back.

I've got a load of side missions still active, plus all the external airlocks are 'locked' and can't enter through them either.

Confused

I've done most of the main missions and have only just unlocked the lift (I think I'm pretty close to the end) as I thought I'd explore more before doing what sounded like the final mission.

I spent ages trying to get to a rooftop using gloos gun and athletic jumping and finally succeded much to my surprise. However, later on in the game I get a chance to unlock a bridge which makes it a matter of just simply walking over, but it wa sthat moment that made me appreciate the freedom I was given to try stuff out.

Just getting access to lift is not coming to an end just yet ;)

I'm pretty sure I had the quest to kill the disruption for that lift since the beginning. I only went back for a wander and exploring and accidentally found it again (my main quest is
kill or save Dahl
)
If I still have more story to go then that's a bonus :)

Completed my first run last night.

Hard mode, Human only neuromods. Being as empathetic as possible. I finished the game with loads of health packs, though the part where
Dahl appears with infinite self-replicating Military Bots was using up my suit repair packs at quite a rate (still finished with 10x of those)

I'm going to do an 'Typhoon powers' run next, though I will miss the Shotgun of death with 150% damage buff and 250% sneak damage bonus. That downed even the strongest Aliens in seconds.

I want to be a total *******, but you can definitely get more Neuromod packs by being 'good', so I might have to save certain people before murdering them horribly towards the end...

Also finished my first (and only) run last night, then went back to a previous save and did something the other way ;).
That ending, what a crock of crap....... and it doesn't matter how you play the game you still end up with the same decision to make at the end regardless which is why I won't be playing it again, would have liked to see different ending based upon how you played the game rather than all roads leading to same junction

Enjoyed it overall but the sheer number of missions / objectives can be very confusing and other than a bit of inventory they don't seem to progress the story or character very much and overall give the feeling of being pretty pointless. Once you get the Neuromod fabrication plan and recycler grenade fabrication plan things seemed pretty simple. I did struggle on hard with some gear about half way through though particularly bullets but got through fine.

I hardly used any Alien mods and that crossbow with flexibolts must go down as one of the most pointless tools in the history of gaming. I didn't use it once and didn't feel the need to either though the bolts came in handy to recycle.

Definitely feel like I've had my money's worth but I won't be playing it again.

I did use that flexi bolt crossbow about 3x times to open doors and activate computers.

Hardly worth losing the inventory space though.
Playing it the second time myself, i never used that flexi crossbow thing, I always recycle them.

I did not replicate any bullets this time and saved all the recycled material. I think I have replicated about 30-40 nueromods at this stage. Love it. Just working on unlocking more typhon abilities now.

Trying to do all the side quests this time as I missed a few last time. I have access to the lift again and wondering what to do when it comes to the bit soon where I have the choice to save or let the dr suffocate. Saved him last time, maybe just kill everyone this time, surely it will be a very different ending :p

Nope, same ending regardless, there are only 3 available.
Blow it up, release the Nullwave or bog off in an escape pod before before those choices are available which doesn't explain anything.

Did the Reactor part of the game and my god what happened to the Frame rates in that part Lol It was very bad dropping down to the 20s at times. The funny thing is once I did that part I went back a little later to see if I missed anything and the frame rate was normal again.

Spoiler!!!

Just kidding, yeah that sucks a bit :p

But still worth a second playthrough just to experience all the abilities and do the side quests one missed. Great game as far as I am concerned. Much rather play this a second time than play many other games being made these days.

Completed it last night, took me about 25 hours.

Absolute blast of a game, was off my radar until I saw Macks vid about it.
Will eventually play through again, as a more human character.

You can use the crossbow flex darts to get the cluster cyst things (can't remember the proper name) out in the zero gravity parts to blow up - saves using real ammo...

I haven't been able to use the recycler grenades to any great effect - care to share how you used them? Do they do much damage to enemies? Aren't they supposed to be for converting stuff into material - what kind of room would you chuck them into? The couple of times I tried it, it didn't seem to have any effect at all...

Is that the part where you have to go and grab the key from the body before the next shock wave comes?

I just use the gloo gun for that. I always have tons of that stuff.

No, and there is a computer in that area to delay the shock wave if you need anyway. I missed that on the first playthrough.

Gloo gun + Recycler grenade combo is pretty powerful but they need to be pretty close to the target hence why the Gloo gun is a great companion to them so you can freeze the target.

I missed that too. It actually took me a while to get past that part as I couldn't find the body every time I went in. I started to think that I'd imagined seeing it when I first went in to the room, it was only after I checked the objectives again that I went back in and finally found him.
