*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

I have an Samsung 960 PRO nvme drive, not had issues with it. I had to install a driver when I set it up months ago to gain proper speeds though.

I don't think I'll be buying new hardware on day 1 again lol.
Its took me ages to get this right
First time I've ever went this early to a new platform and was unsure after reading in here about a lot of early teething problems. But 24 hours in everything seems to be rock solid here and running fine so would not hesitate again in future

25 hours as in you got it yesterday? If so we are over the worst now :)

Yeah ofc but what I was meaning even now plenty seem to have a lot of niggly problems whereas I feared the worst and got nowhere near the worst

Tbh nobody should be facing any real issues now. The ones that are being raised are almost all down to overclocking.
Glad it's all working for you.

3 hours occt passed at 3.95ghz with ram at 3066.

Deep breath of relief.

Now running tpu memtest overnight. Fingers crossed.

I won't sleep tonight...

1700, 1.4v under heavy load

Memtest crashed, so disabled gear down and set 2t. Didn't think the 1t would hold.

Another failure, and will up the volts a bit.

I did read that procODT is one to be careful about maximums and that 40-60 was safe but more was at your own risk. I think the AMD rep on one of the videos was quoted as saying 80 was LN2 territory.

Robert Hallock from AMD gave that advice :/ . And it was not correct from information given, this is known by other experienced members shares on OCN. The Stilt who is renowned for AMD knowledge / 1st hand experience has highlighted certain setups need 96 ohms. On OCN you will find a thread, Ryzen Essential Information, I collate useful information in OP of that thread.

I'll check that out thanks :)

Very nice chip you've got there Rossi!

Thanks for sharing all the settings.

Well, was good for 4 hours occt last night, and ran tpu memtest for 9 hours without issue.

Thought I would start installing things, and had not taken very long for black screen and hitching. When running tpu memtest again.

Only things have installed :
Cpuz
Gpuz
Window update kb4022725
Google Chrome

Already removed Windows update, no improvement. I did restart after that.

But I had opened Chrome.

Then got black screen and seemed to be back at login.

Anyway, log back in start tpu again, running with only a very occasional hitch/pause

Now trying with chrome open.

So with chrome open, wasn't long before chrome went all black and tpu crashed...

Now running again with chrome open.

Edit: seem to always get balloon for adblock in chrome stating it has crashed if am running tpu at same time.

Edit 2
Chrome went black again and tpu crashed again. In short time. Mouse was also more stuttery and more hitching/pausing

Edit 3
Then closed Chrome and opened edge while tpu running which caused display cut out.

Rebooted, changed soc voltage to 1.175v and upped the phase control to extreme.

Ran tpu, opened up edge, ran fine, but bit of pausing initially which seemed to settle

Closed down edge and opened chrome

So far, no backing of anything, mouse smooth and minimal pausing.

Did think I may be pushing things leaving soc voltage on auto.

Edit 4
Had another chrome blackout. Brief and recovered quickly.

Rebooted and set soc to 1.2v, but also disabled sense mi skew - someone on oc.net mentioned something about it and instability, so figure why not.

Running tpu now for 10 minutes with chrome open.

Not noticed any hitching and thus far no blacking of anything - but need to give it more time.

Edit 5:
Only blacking of any kind was a split second when I opened a new tab with amazon, but was incredibly brief.

Decided to live on the edge and have Edge open now too.

Occasional pause, but nothing I'm concerned with - when running a ram tester, it's not surprising there may be hiccups when doing things that use/change ram.

Going to open a few more things - not that I have much installed and see how it goes for a bit.

Though I would much rather be out with camera...

I would forget trying to chase this. You're unreasonably stressing out RAM, it's not going to be smooth trying to do something else at the same time. By default it uses max RAM and is meant to be just left alone to do it's thing.

If it passes high level of HCI, several ours of RealBench and Prime95 and is fine with your normal use then get on and start using it as a PC :p

Oh, as I said above, I expect a bit of hitching or something while running a ram stress test, especially if I do something, but the amount i got running it when not actively doing anything on desktop was pretty bad.

My current testing still has some sense - I am now half an hour in with no major blacking out, and hitching pausing only very occasionally, and typically when have opened something. I knew I needed to up the SOC for black screens, but it's also sorted out some stability regarding ram - which didn't show with nothing else on.

So, I am confident I am getting to a point where I can call my system stable, and the hitching is not currently a hardware "issue"

I think once I have hit an hour without issue, I will restore my Windows image which has everything installed, and see if I still get the hitching, as I am still not sure if there is also and additonal prgram or driver causing problems. The minor hitching was less of a concern than the long lock-ups I had, which went on for over a minute which I think I narrowed down to procODT.

In future, I do think I will do my ram stressing in safe mode though.

Restored windows image, and definitely more frequent pauses (tpu memtest + realbench + occt), but none of the lengthy ones.

So, will probably go down route of full install at some point. Just not now.

For now I'm calling it stable passing 3 hours occt and 9 hours tpu memtest, and hopefully that will translate to gaming, encoding and general usage stable.
