Get it in game for completing Squadron 42 if/when it ever releases from what I understand.

That was the original idea.. they've probably changed it since!
 
Yeah never let the stats make a difference. Let's be honest none of us are ace fighter pilots etc. And so it should be about what you think looks cool, feels right for you. There so many options to pick from.

Just wish they would add the systems for colouring ships, and internal customs like the 300 showed off etc so we could make them more personal!

Activating the new, more advanced flight HUD on all ships! This new HUD can be enabled per ship on the ship configuration page or fully enabled through the in game options. This advanced HUD allows players see much more dynamic information than the previous HUD and includes new acceleration displays, orientation, VSI, radio altimeter(r-alt), above sea level altimeter, atmospheric pressure, and more. This advanced HUD will continue to function while in the current QT mode. This also includes new, interim icons for ship states like landing gear, coupled/decoupled, esp, and more.
