******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Have been regularly playing since a few weeks after 4.0 dropped and enjoying it again. When the servers work at least. Generally haven’t had too many issues finding servers but there's been multiple sessions stopped earlier or before they've started.

The Daymar Rally is today at 4pm UK and they're getting the dedicated staff from CIG to babysit the server they end up on. Not sure if it's an actual private server though but sounds as if people will be whitelisted to get into it. Which for once means it should be a good race although disappointing none of the fun in the air will be going on.

Pretty good sesh tonight. My friend and I did a bounty hunter contract successfully.
Got rattled by turrets at the site and couldn't seem to damage them so we just landed behind a cliff (that the turrets were still able to sometimes fire through) and then we just ran to the base and went down into the bunker to kill the target.

I watched a fair bit of the rally coverage yesterday evening, two of the CIG were actually competing by the looks of it - or crashed somehow during it as an "incident" popped up during it saying they'd had a collision :)

Arghh jumped back in again and wow this 'game' leaves me so frustrated. (long time backer from 2017)
When it works its so satisfying. When it doesn't - stuck elevator - mission markers don't spawn - cannot log in - endless new ships - nerf old ones etc.

Is this the year you think makes or breaks SC in 25?
I feel like backers like myself don't want to sink any more £ but I just cant recommend it to new people so what customer base (minus the YT guys who never seem to have an issue because its alpha) are going to be left?

Hmmm .. never wanted a game to succeed so much but feel my life force will end before any kind of super stable release ;)

They are focused on improving stabililty this year, but as I've said for years - if in doubt keep the wallet shut.

Things have improved, I think people forget just how much but there are a few game breaking bugs still that they are slow to address e.g. people spawning at Orison can't leave and just crash to desktop, there is no workaround for those until the next patch.

And then once they add a new feature, stability goes out the window. That's how software dev works in general

Not really, they are meant to be able to avoid that, it's not inherent that a release candidate is "bad" because something was added. CIG do repeatedly reintroduce the same bug though which is frustrating.

This annoys me to: https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-152801

Archived because they want it via the crash handler, why not both? Players want to provide more narrative around it which you can't do as well in the crash handler - and publicise it so others do the same.

I think we need to wait for the refactoring job to complete for both the missions and transit.

For example, the missions refactoring is not finished. Elliott made a post about it saying it was very difficult and lot of work to do it. A few of the missions we’ve had in the past wont be done because its outdated and does not fit with the 1.0 vision.

I said this to @humbug before but my gut feeling is that they are secretely working on a 1.0 branch with all its intended features and once done, will release it to evo, ptu etc instead of drip feeding feature by feature by feature into the pu

People have been saying that for years though. But yes, I think it's true currently. I've been finding as long as the server BwIN is under 5 Mbps the server will be generally ok and I get good times. Stay on a server long enough though and it'll eventually die.

'RL: Entities' is the other important one. If you get stuck loading when trying to join a server and entities sits at 0. You've timed out somewhere in the chain, altF4 and try again.

I'm still annoyed at the (imo) poor design of new ships. The no cargo bay, not even 1SCU, and wasted internal space is frustrating. Why have large living areas with no storage?
