The citizencon code allows us to fly all the ships, not a referral code. You can use the citizencon code and fly all the ships

Ah, cool. That makes more sense. Would be silly to only let new users only use the code I would have thought. Not tried Arena Commander since it first came out I think, might give it a go.

$4 million in the past 2 weeks, not bad.

when you look at being able to walk around inside a ship in first person while at the same time that ship is fighting other ships outside and you can look out through a window and see it happening... that is truly impressive tech - no one has done it before... every other game has either ships, vehicles, OR first person inside a much bigger ship, but not both at the same time

I'm sure Star Wars Galaxies - Jump to Lightspeed did something similar with 'player on board' ships about 11 years ago.

Yes and no. I can't find any footage that shows a passenger being able to see combat going on outside the ship, they have to get in to a turret and then they get an outside the ship view, which isn't quite the same thing.

Alpha access / module passes will no longer be required to play.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15007-Letter-From-The-Chairman

In honor of our newest Citizen (really, our thousands of new Citizens!) we would like to give something back to the entire community for all your incredible support. Starting today, we are eliminating ‘Alpha Access’ and the $5 module passes. Anyone who has pledged for a Star Citizen Package can now play today without worrying they won’t have access to some portion of the ‘Verse in the future. No Star Marine pass, no Alpha 2.0 pass… no additional payment needed for any module in the works, pre-release. Going forward, should we need to put out some sort of limited release it will be done through the PTU test server. All backers will have access to any live release, the moment it publishes.

In addition, I’d like to reward our earliest supporters who made it possible to get to this point. Everyone with an ‘alpha access’ package will be awarded 10,000 UEC; everyone who purchased an Arena Commander pass individually will be given 5,000 UEC (with the cap raising appropriately to allow this.) You also have my most sincere thanks: you were our vanguard, the battalion that fought the good fight from the beginning. Your impact on Star Citizen will never be forgotten, for without your early faith we couldn’t be where we are today. (Please note that this credit payout is going to take a big script, so it may take Turbulent a few days to work out the logistics!)

This means that you can buy the Aurora ES package for 33.60 Euros which equals
£25.01 (according to google, paypal will probably sting you for a little more I guess) and have full access to the game, both star citizen and squadron 42 in Alpha, beta and release.

They spoke during the show about the 4 types of flight they'll be running: precision (landing, mining etc), combat (regular mode), cruise (fast, minor steering), and quantum.
Seems like right now they have regular/combat and quantum and thats it. They also have (its been in AC for about 6mo) auto pilot/landing, they used it in the press version when the hornet landed either at the fuel or fps stop.

So lets not make assumptions about how stuffs going to work based on watching only a bit of footage. By all means ask, then when told 'thats normal' say its a bad idea, but dont **** something off based on your lack of info and effort to find out.

Also, pretty sure landing gear is deployed any time you want to. Again, thats in-game now, what you saw was most likely someone making their landing and then realising they hadnt already put their gear down. its not automatic by force, might be an option, but i very much doubt it.

As for the nature of the footage, these guys are doing things live on stage in view of the audience (hence the occasional heckle like 'FOUR' when everyone assumes they're all going to the same landing pad :D), they know what they need to do, so its semi choreographed (fly to A, dogfight, EVA, repair station, get back in ship, fly to B...), but its not scripted, not planned so bob shoots dave, dave then gets killed by fred etc, they play the game in an honest fashion. Im hate the trend of fake demos, like The Division, where there happens to be a mixture of sex & race amongst the people playing, with their cheesy primary school grade dialogue.
Its that American showmanship nonsense, its fake and dishonest/misleading to lure you in, then eventually ship something inferior to the 'gameplay footage' showed a year or 2 earlier, because none of it was ever real to begin with.

At least with SC what you see is what they've got, its not sugar coated and manipulated to mislead you into thinking its amazing, if you think its amazing, great. If you see issues, thats because thats the state of the game a long way from completion. Personally, i love that they do things this way, i feel like it gives me a honest opportunity to evaluate the state of things.

1: I said it's not finished.
2: Many games keep awful designs and if you don't say something, or enough of us say something in feedback to them (not here, but I can moan here :P) it might get changed.
3: The video JUST came out and there are so many of them and I don't have time to watch it all and/or with sound.

But yeah, it's good to hear they're adding precision but I can't find any readable info about it, has anyone made summaries yet? It doesn't say if it's just lateral or includes RCS, even then if the thrusters are 10% output of what's current you still need to tap.

As for the recording, I read it was pre-recorded, in fact the video even states so.
Landing with flight assist off is cool looking :D

the mini PU / landing demo they did was recorded live, they had an actual person flying the constellation, it wasn't pre-recorded (I watched the whole thing live)

and no, there's been no write up on the different modes yet, just the slides that he talks about within the presentation, so you have to watch that part of the presentation to get what info we have so far

2 questions.

1) Why does the launcher take an absolute age to... Well launch? I double click the launcher, and so far, it's been over 60 seconds and it's still not opened up. And that's after a restart. It does indeed eventually load up. After about 5 minutes.

2) Why do I drop to a locked 30fps from locked 60fps as soon as I dip below? I'm on a 980 ti.

Edit: 3 minutes.
