******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Yeah I've got one, handy to nip around your hangar on but its just a buggy at the end of the day.

Worth it if its with free UEC but I wouldn't spend $15 on UEC to get one if you know what I mean.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I've actually got 15k UEC already for some reason, so I think I'll treat myself :)

Hi everyone!

We're excited to push 1.3.0 to PTU today for testing!

No downtime today since PTU is not up, and we expect to bring up the PTU servers around 3pm CDT/8pm GMT.

There's quite a lot of content in this one, both for Arena Commander and for Social Module. We'll have full Patch Notes later today, but in the meantime, here's a short preview of what you can expect!

PLEASE NOTE: This is only a small partial list of Patch Notes. We'll update this page with the link to the complete Patch Notes as soon as they're ready!

HANGAR

Additions/Balance/Tweaks/Fixes:

- The Greycat Buggy has received an appearance, animation and handling overhaul.
- The elevator to Area 18 will now show all available instances of ArcCorp, how many people are present in each one, and how many people from your contact list are present.
- There is now a "Loadout Selector" located in all player hangar's that will allow players to select what load out they will move around the Hangar and ArcCorp with.
- The Selfland Hangar is in the process of receiving a full relighting pass to improve the overall look and atmosphere. Not 100% implemented yet.
- Camera free-look can now be activated by "Shift+G".
- "Ctrl+F" is now the hotkey to disembark a ship.
- Fixed seating in Retaliator and Gladiator and visual shaking inside Vanduul Scythe.

ARENA COMMANDER

Additions/Balance/Tweaks/Fixes:

- The Behring C-788 Ballistic Cannon has been added to the game. This gun uses a S4 mount and fires at 2.2 shots per second.
- Size 4 fixed mounts for the Hornet and Cutlass Turrets have been added to accommodate the Ballistic Cannon.
- Apocalypse Arms WarSeries SZ4 Mass Driver has been added to the game. This gun uses a S2 mount and fires at 0.7 shots per second.
- Increased the health of all ships.
- Increased overall shield strength of all ships to reduce alpha damage and bring up survival.
- Missile damage has been increased slightly to keep pace with health and improve effectiveness.
- Missile lock time has been adjusted.
- Energy weapon velocities have been buffed across the board to be faster then ballistics. Our philosophy here is that as energy weapons do no damage until shields are down, it takes more hits by energy weapons to do real damage and accuracy is thus more important.
- Damage of energy weapons has been reduced slightly to compensate.
- Ballistic weapons have received a corresponding buff to their potential range so that they can potentially hit targets that are farther away.
- Plasma bolt range decreased by 30% for the Vanduul "Wrath" Plasma Cannon.
- Neutron bolt speed increased by 20% for the Vanduul "War" Neutron Cannon.
- Cutlass has received a minor tweak to its thruster gimbals to improve maneuverability.
- The following ships and all variants have received an update to their shield meshes and animations to better align with their ship models.
Avenger, Gladius, Mustang, Cutlass, Freelancer, 300 Series, M50, Gladiator, Glaive
- Increased the power draw of the M50's engine. Decreased the strength of the M50's power plant. These two changes are to ensure that the choice of mounting a weapon with high power drain vs one with low power drain on the m50 will have a meaningful affect on performance and speed.
- Interacting character animations have been updated for all flight-ready ships.
- "Look Ahead" mode is now turned on by default. It can be toggled on and off by "Right-ALT+M".
- Weapon Gimbal Lock is now "Left-CTRL+G".

- Fixed an issue where players would not be removed from Arena Commander for being idle unless all players in the match were idle.
- Fixed Tutorial - Chapter 3 where the missiles would sometimes not track the target correctly.
- Fixed an issue where weapons fire could appear offset from the weapon muzzle, when the ship was firing while moving.
- Fixed an issue where a ships target could be lost when increasing distance from target, despite target still being in sensor range.#
- Fixed an issue where projectiles fired from ship weapons would sometimes remain protruding out of the weapon they had been shot from causing damage or display issues.
- Fixed a black screen that would occur when joining a Lobby when GIM services are down.
- Added the ability for the Lobby to return an error if a client attempts to join while GIM is down.
- Fixed an issue where clients would sometimes get stuck on a loading screen, if they are connected to a instance that no longer exists.
- Fixed an issue where the client could black screen if the lobby service was not able to communicate with the instance manager.
- Fixed one lobby issue where the player Host would see a different map and rule for a match in the UI then the players would. This would happen when a host created a game, left, and entered or created a new lobby.

SOCIAL MODULE

Additions/Balance/Tweaks/Fixes:

- ArcCorp, Area 18 is expanding! The new Galleria area is currently under construction, but available for exploration.
- New emotes have been added to the game.
/agree, /angry(1-3), /attention, /blah(1-2), /bored (2), /bow(1-6), /burp, /cheer(1-8), /chicken, /clap (5-7 are new), /come(1-4), /cry, /dance(1-6), /disagree(1-3), /failure, /flex(1-3), /flirt, /gasp(1-5), /gloat(1-4), /greet, /laugh(1-3), /point(1-4), /rude(1-3), /salute(1-2), /sit, /sleep, /smell(1-2), /threaten(1-2), /wait(1-2), /wave(1-2), /whistle(1-2)
- The maximum character capacity for Area 18 has been increased to 36. The limit will expand up to 40, if you are attempting to join an instance with players from your contact list.
- Fully functional Greycat Buggies have been added around ArcCorp and include a functional passenger seat.
- The Greycat Buggies in ArcCorp can explode and be destroyed when they impact at high speed.
- Players will now be removed from Area 18 due to inactivity after 15 minutes. An inactivity warning will be displayed 1 minute prior to removal.
- Falling out of the terrain will now kill players, and revive them in the Area 18 Medical Unit.
- The chat UI has received a graphical overhaul. New features for the chat interface include multiple tabs for conversation management, private conversations, and a contacts list that can be extended or retracted into the UI.

1: I said it's not finished.
2: Many games keep awful designs and if you don't say something, or enough of us say something in feedback to them (not here, but I can moan here :P) it might get changed.
3: The video JUST came out and there are so many of them and I don't have time to watch it all and/or with sound.

But yeah, it's good to hear they're adding precision but I can't find any readable info about it, has anyone made summaries yet? It doesn't say if it's just lateral or includes RCS, even then if the thrusters are 10% output of what's current you still need to tap.

As for the recording, I read it was pre-recorded, in fact the video even states so.
Landing with flight assist off is cool looking :D

I was specifically responding to the "wouldnt surprise me if it never changes" more than anything, because what you were seeing was simply 1 person was doing it in a 'bad habit' kinda way. The stuff to make it look more realistic is either in game now (you can put gear down whenever you want) or was clarified during the event, just moments before this footage.
I dont have a problem with people saying a specific scene doesnt look realistic, or saying if it stays like that, it'll be horrible.
Its just extremely frustrating when people make unfair statements about the state of the game based on a false assumption, through lack of information, and dont account for this in their statement. "ive not watched it all, but that doesnt look right" is fine, "that doesnt look right" has different context, and following it up with "wouldnt surprise me if it never changes" (or words to that effect) is neither accurate for present state (4+ months ago) or a justified insinuation, IMO.
Its just how you go about expressing an opinion, and the message it gives, and 'I only watched a bit and may or may not have had audio' doesnt make it any better.

The 'Live' content was from Citizen Con, done on stage in front of me and 599 other backers, the 'Press' versions were done live just behind closed doors so they could do their write up for later that day. Even the SQ42 speech was done live in-game, and nobody can doubt the walkaround on the Idris was legit as it had voice sync issues (whether they've edited the videos to re-sync, i dont know). No game footage was pre-recorded, and i cant think of an occasion where they've ever done this.

The only time they do scripted footage, trailers, montages, stuff like that, is for commercials. Otherwise i think its all raw footage, edited/directed live (camera swaps, telling them to do something specific etc). The kickstarter trailer 3 years ago is the only game footage i can think of which was edited footage, and even then it was shown to be 100% in-engine at GDC. They're incredibly honest about where they're at, to the point where it allows critics to highlight minor things like its the new COD a week before release.

Here are the 2 slides about the flight modes. I'd call these thruster modes, there are other types of IFCS modes, like with & without stabilisers (forget the correct terms, but iirc theres 3 modes, where the ship can limit the thruster output to avoid blackout and extreme manoeuvres).

Paul you were there? Shame we didn't meet up, SaL and I were both there and bumped into Smelly_legend amongst a few others :)

The Idris voice issues were mentioned by Chris at the time incidentally, he was expecting it to have problems but wanted to show it regardless. He gets abuse if he doesn't show stuff due to his belief in only showing a near-finished product, but gets it anyway when he forces himself to do it.

Yeah, i completely forgot to come on here and check. Its stupid really, because up until about noon on Saturday there wasnt anything semi-concrete organised with the guys on Bit-Tech, which is where i also hang out for SC chit-chat. I dont know why, but it never occurred to me to come here, i seem to pop in once a month or something, if theres something thats happened i'll come see what ppl say, and somehow despite being a little down the night before that i'd be going there alone, i hadnt thought to check here. Stupid really, cos i'd always planned on doing so.

Might seem daft, but the problems which concern a lot of people, actually tend to comfort me somewhat. It just reassures me that what im seeing is what they've got, its real, rough edges and all. I dont care too much if it BSOD's (unless its doing it repeatedly beforehand) beyond the embarrassment CR would suffer, its not a final build and theres a LOT more to do. Its refreshing to see a development team be that open about progress.

bitsec_photo.jpg

I absolutely hate having my photo taken, but its with the great man himself, so...
Thats me, teamtd11 and Cei (both from Bit-Tech/Bit-Sec) and obviously Chris on the end.
I dont know why im clinging onto my coat like its my blankie, i was caught off guard because Cei passed his phone to someone, and i was expecting to use td11's camera, and was more concerned that the guy got all of us in, not just Cei & Chris, and didnt stop to think what an idiot im about to look when posting it online etc

Those buggies are.... buggy. I drove about 15 meters before it randomly started spinning and flew off the map and into a distant building, which I recorded it.

They are really hard to control as well.

I've just finished downloading this again as I was looking forward to some actual content. It's still the same. Just a hanger with a single ship and some boring battle simulations. I must be missing something here surely. I got this free with an AMD card. Does that mean there's no actual game with that or something? Is this just wasting space on my HDD?

well you can pvp instead of the battle sim
and see other people run about in the social bit.

but if you're looking for a 'game', yes it's wasting space, till probably the end of the year/Feb

Edit:
Also you'll always have a single ship outwith a promotional time.
You can rent them though with money earned in the sim.

UEC is now trickling in.

I've had 2x 5k for my AC passes on my Omega packages, still waiting on the 10k for my Alpha pass package.

EDIT - Remaining 10k now in my central core bank account!

Quite impressed that they included the 5000 UEC for the AMD packages, i really didnt expect to be entitled to anything from that, i didnt pay for it, i mean the ship has a $0 melt value, and yet it seems the AC pass has more value than the rest, hehe.

Wish we could buy the Takuetsu ship models for UEC. I neeeeed the Starfarer & Gladius ships. Its gone beyond 'want', we're at 'neeeeed' levels, and those e's are only going to get longer!

LOL, that's what I did a few months ago; walk around a hanger and fly a ship a bit doing some boring combat. I haven't been back since and will care little until a good game is out.:D

Yeah I was surprised they included the AMD package too, those Starfarer & Gladius Takuetsu ship are in the subscriber store for $5 each if you really want them mate.

You can either buy a $10 monthly subscriber to get access to the subscriber store or ask a subscriber to get them for you and gift them over.

I'm happy to get them for you but think I'm still under the post limit to trade on these forums so you would have to contact me on the RSI forums about it, my handles the same as my forum name here.

I caved in a brought it, only the basic package. The recent changes they did made it to tempting to not buy hehe.

well, over the weekend was the best time to buy, they've now removed the £27 package, so the cheapest package that includes game access is £35 again (it does include a better ship though)
they might have another anniversary sale near the end of November with cheaper packages again (or rather, they will have an anniversary sale, but don't know what's going to be in the sale)

Thanks for the offer, i'd never subscribed before, but because of CitCon and the tradition of queue jumping given to subs and concierge i figured it'd be worth the $10, and of course the next day they announce there isnt any need for it. Typical.
That said, i cant justify to myself spending £8-10 for the 2 little models, im having a hard enough time trying not to spend more money as it is, and if i was, it'd be on the flyable ships rather than ickle models. Would just be nice if they were available for UEC, seeing as they're hangar flair which seems appropriate to sell in the Voyager Direct store (even if they still need a subscriber package to be able to buy them).

There was never a need to subscribe. It pays for the videos they do like around the verse and 10 for the chairman and stuff. If you like those videos, go for it, if you dont watch any of them, then you are probably better off putting that money into other star citizen things, as then the money will go into the game rather than the shows.

There are plenty of people who will re-sell the flair at cost price (maybe even a little less due to euro / usd exchange rate) on reddit if you just want a few little bits but dont want to subscribe.
