******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

1.0 brought a lot of additional models etc. Personally I'm not really fussed until we're well into beta, I haven't even tried getting my CH pro throttle working with it for about 6 months now.

Performance isn't something that's done this early in a development cycle, yes they could improve it a bit especially for the areas they want actively tested e.g. Arena Commander, FPS etc when done but for other areas like the hangar there's little point.

Doubt they'll bother until we're into beta though, they're more interested in netcode and stability.

Public TEST universe released

Greetings Citizens,

Get ready to join the Public Test Universe (PTU.) During the lead up to Arena Commander 1.0, we gave a limited number of backers access to what we call the PTU, a version of the game that offers experimental versions of upcoming patches. Starting today, all Star Citizen backers have access to the PTU and with it access to test a build of Arena Commander 1.0.1.

Please note that the PTU is not for the faint of heart: unlike standard Arena Commander, you’re one of the first people testing a new build which can often be unstable or otherwise non-functional. If you’re serious about helping us test Star Citizen, accessing the PTU and reporting bugs on the forums is one of the biggest services you can provide… but if you’re looking for a clean dogfight, you may want to stick to the standard build. You can report bugs discovered in the PTU here, or provide feedback on the PTU itself here.

Arena Commander 1.0.1 is now available on the Public Test Universe. 1.0.1 is a bug fix-oriented patch, designed to fix a number of issue we saw with 1.0. The next major content patch will be 1.1, which will introduce several long-awaited features to the game. Official patch notes will be available once the release is tested on the PTU and pushed to the main release channel, although in-progress notes will be posted to the PTU forum.

How do I access the PTU?

Step One: Copy your RSI account to the PTU. Go to your My RSI area, select settings and then access Public Test Universe to begin this process. This will copy all of your account settings, pledges and configuration data to the PTU version of the RSI environment. You will then receive an email with a new password and additional instructions.

Step Two: Open the Star Citizen launcher, log in with your existing RSI account.

Step Three: Access the Settings area of the Star Citizen launcher (the cog at the top) and locate the Game Channel list.

Step Four: Select ‘Public Test Universe’ in the Game Channel list and then close the settings page.

Step Five: Log out of the Launcher, then log back in using the new password in the email generated by Step One. Reverse this process to switch back to the standard release channel.

We hope you enjoy access to even earlier builds of Star Citizen! We’re committed to including our backers as early in the development process as possible, so getting the Public Test Universe accessible to everyone as quickly as we could was a priority. Now man your planes and help us test this thing!

PLEASE NOTE: The PTU will not be permanently accessible; it will be available on occasions that the community is needed for testing a patch, and will usually be deactivated after a patch goes live on the main channel. We will update you in this space when PTU content is available for testing.

T16000M is arguably one of the most accurate sticks around and extremely nice to use (ambidextrous too), downside is it has no separate throttle unit. Hotas X has both but stick isn't quite as good but it's right handed.

Not usually an issue but you can in theory grab two T16000Ms and dual stick later, I tried it and didn't like it so went for a T16000M + CH pro throttle (added pedals later too.. cos christmas :) )

I'm actually looking forwards to SQ42 the most. It's the reason I backed this in the first place so having something by the back end of the year (hopefully) will be great.

I have the feeling SQ42 will be a let down to be honest, maybe it's my pecimism post Elite: Dangerous speaking though :D

it's ok mate once they hit two they're so much easier to get to sleep at night. Ours is now 4.5 years old and she's fast asleep by 8pm and is solid most nights until 7am :)

Ill just be using joypad i think for this. Any OCuk guilds to join?

Three orgs all in the OP mate, highly recommend Shadow Legion if you want to be a pirate though :) PAGAN and CORP are probably quite similar when you get down to basics, just different goals.

Nothing stopping you joining all 3 and having two as affiliate orgs though :p

Yeah, I think half of PAGAN is intending to go if we get the chance! They'll probably offer them a couple of months before it but the problem is people who aren't intending to go who buy tickets for any potential flair item (like a trophy) as the tickets are generally only a few pounds and probably limited to a couple of hundred.

Limited ships on sale next week due to the VAT changes the following week. No detail on what ships that'll be but probably the usual suspects like the M50/350R with a few others like Retaliator.

Most will come back at varying points through the development, but each time tends to cost a few bucks more and in many cases has shorter insurance included in the package.

The Banu has been on at least twice before, the only ships which are unlikely to be offered again are the Javelin, Scythe and probably the Idris-M.
