******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

3 size 1 hard points... Nope.

How underwhelming.

Yeah... at the moment at least size 1 weapons are not a good idea in the PU or Battle Royal, they just take far too long to drain a half decent shield.
its very difficult to stand your ground against ships with S2 and above shields.

CR said this game will be more about skill than what ship or stuff you own, its not, not at the moment, you can be so skilled to be the envy of everyone but that skill is not going to trump your Bulldog Repeaters over heating long before you cut down a Sabre's shields, that Sabre either cuts you down while your Bulldogs cool or you end up in a fight that has no end.

I have been in plenty of situations where my opponent had the power to wipe me out in a few passes but could not hit me, and i couldn't get through his shields. so it goes on for ever....

The balancing 'at the moment' is very wrong.

$250 + VAT pledge

It'd have to have a lot of unexplained cargo capacity for me to consider it lol

Its an awesome looking ship but lacking firepower, i'm also starting to feel like CiG are becoming elitist..... endless interpretations of the same purpose ship with each one more expensive than the last.

With it being Vanduul I'd expect it to handle badly, which defeats the purpose of a light fighter!

Starfarer looks great but holy hell it's enormous, way too big for what I wanted :) One to get in-game.

Not disagreeing so much, but it should be remembered you're also paying for something extremely limited, i've not actually heard the qty being sold, but its going to be pretty day-to-day going and buying a Gladius, you wont be going to the local dealership for Vanduul ships and popping your name on the waiting list, its going to be a matter of getting blood from a stone, either being the richest in a bidding war, or spending a considerable amount of time scouring dangerous fringe space, hoping to eventually build one from scrap.

Theres 890 jump levels of exclusivity, original Vanduul ship levels, and a gulf in between. IMO, i rate these more as replicas, but still special even if they dont compare to UEE fighters.

Did anyone clock the reference to the floor maps and '...he knows who he is'?
i did, few else will :'(

I'd been a F42 earlier today too, and the very last thing we saw was the walkthrough, with CB (French accent chap in the vid) and it looked pretty damn amazing, he mentioned in the middle that they'd done the recording on Wednesday (iirc) and it wasnt edited in time for AtV but might go in next weeks or an individual segment in the week, and all the issues i saw during the livestream on twitch, given that their footage was 2 days ago, im feeling really confident it should be in 2.3, though nothing was said nor implied with a nod & wink etc. But they'd mentioned they were doing floor maps having seen some they liked done by someone in the community, as someone i'd been chatting to and knew gave me a grin and i pointed out i'd done them, and they said it got a mention in the video which felt amazing, and then i find out i got a shout out without the shout out :D Typical. I'd take them enjoying the plans enough to do a legit one, over getting a mention, and day. The more nerd pr0n, the better :D

There really wasnt much of a floodgate of 'this is what we're keeping from you', there was 1 thing, absolutely stunning too, and the rest was kinda getting to see who does what, nice stuff, but honestly the 1st thing was kinda the only thing an NDA would be worth requiring, the rest was just really interesting and nice getting to meet people.

Will Weisbaum (LA Writer) was over, apparently so were CR and Dave Haddock ('not in office') and ER flew to the US at the last minute, but i did get to see Tony Z... admittedly it was walking past someone on a skype call, but it counts still, right? it was a good double-take moment though :D

Latest patch proving quite unstable for me, Sabre/Gladiator/Aurora CL all resulting in a frozen client in VS or Olisar after a random period of time.

Not too bad but frustrating :)

Haven't been at Crusader yet ^^^^ the first thing i did was go to my Hanger as the patch-notes say the Aero View Hanger has new lighting, i was confronted with this monster.... its freaking huge!
This is a special huge room currently not in the R&Y Hanger

It does, doesnt it :D
I dont know how, but someone has already jammed it into the Aeroview hangar

Oh god damn it I better get patching.

I've got friends over tonight so won't be on but I have sorted out our gameplay vid from last week so will get it uploaded once the patch is done!

Contains a lot of swearing and me blaming other people for ramming me when in reality it was 50% my own bloody fault :D

Enjoy your night in with friends :)

20 odd.. as in 24Gb! Bloody hell this'll take until about midnight if I'm lucky :D then I have to upload that 12Gb vid to youtube lol

Good news is I should be OK to play tomorrow night though !

12GB? it would take me a week to upload that on my connection...

Tomorrow night it is then :)

Got to give them credit the patcher is absolutely maxing out my broadband lol

Yeah they don't cap you on their upload bandwidth, like some do.

Especially given that there are 1.3m Backers, not all of those will be downloading it now and in the next few days but there must be tens of thousands downloading at any given time.

The day before Yesturday there were two 15GB PTU patches in 3 hours, last night another two 20GB patches in 4 hours and today a 24GB live release...

Good Grief ^^^^ that's $111m of service.
