******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I'll still be watching the presentations with interest even though your never likely to experience what they are showing if at all in the future!

Thats the only issue i find with some companies they have in house testing going on showing you this that and everything but when a new client update drops they don't deliver half of what they promise or indeed what they mentioned in the videos its all cloak and dagger sometimes if you catch my drift.

I'll be watching this thread so keep posting information in the eventual future i will dip back in!

Time will tell...

If you haven't already seen these...

This is the first game-play with procedural planets, proof of concept.
Its an early tech demo.... Its all the same colour, little detail, textures on the ground are low res.... it is just to say "we got this working"
Watch about 15 minutes of it and then switch to the next one linked below.

This one is V2, its more fleshed out, far more detail, high res ground textures, some vegetation.....
Watch this one to the end.

I'm pretty new to it only just been messing about in the latest test build so by no means know anything on the matter, i had read snippets of people believing the vision of the game had changed and a response from CIG made it ever more clear that they were heading in a different route than what had initially been detailed.

Only reason i retracted membership at this time is i couldn't get it running stable (Nor was i expecting drama free stability neither) But being the casual 1-1.30 hrs i just didn't have the patience to keep trying. From what i played it was quite enjoyable and will most definitely revisit at a later stage.

Not sure how its going to pan out for the casual gamer to pick up straight out of the box but I'm guessing marketing wont allow this to pass without some kind of media hype train to pull in more consumers.
Pretty cool concept however and looking forward to its development.

There have been many different reasons and many different visions of both what the game would be and how it was going to play out.

The biggest one, I think, is that people were kicking off because they "weren't getting what they paid for", while not seeming to understand what it was they'd paid for in the first place - That is to say, they'd 'bought' nothing, they'd 'invested' in nothing, so were entitled to nothing... they'd specifically donated money, for the Devs to make their game their way in their own time, rather than being beholden to a publisher's funding and timescales.
That's whay it was crowd-funded instead of publisher-funded.

Arguably, the terms of Kickstarter can mean donors are still entitled to something, though.

Then you had things like the whole "broken-promise" issue over how RSI said they'd never sell ships with LTI, or it was limited one-time only, only to then start selling LTI on ships and running second-time-only sales, then third-time-only.
It didn't look good.

Me, I'm still in love with the concept, but just don't like how it's looking or how it works in terms of controls and gameplay mechanics.

I'm also a bit miffed to see all the ship trailers, packages, rehashes of packages, merchandising (particularly all the special Dev-Only stuff they seem to be buying themselves) and all the long videos and podcasts, when compared to how little actual content was being added to the test environments.

As mentioned above, the recent gameplay demo with the mission and everything was the first time I've seen what looks like the proper game - So it's quite possible this will work out...

In all seriousness, how easy/accessible is this with controller only?

I don't want to take this game too seriously and I've got a basic HOTAS which will do. But I'd rather relax with a controller.

There's a 360 controller profile in controls, most of the devs use them for testing.

Don't get me wrong you'll never have the precision of a HOTAS or even mouse/keyboard but it's perfectly usable.

Steam controller needs a lot of configuration though.. I'd steer clear of it for now unless you use someone else's XML file for it.

Cool, I'm looking for a casual experience. Nothing insane.

FPS was a bit all over the place. Not played Star Citizen in ages so hopefully motion blur can be turned off in the console at least. It does look like it could be fun for a few rounds every now and again.

Loved the ship that looked like a bird, pure bad ass.

Circle jousting fight with a Sabre and i won, normally i don't like taking Sabres on in 2.5 because the shields are bugged and stronger than they are meant to be, but i got lucky......

It was a cool livestream, A little disappointed they didn't talk about a PTU date for 2.6 if it has already been mentioned my bad.

would have liked to hear more about that SQ42 demo they wanted to show us at citizencon but they couldn't make it.

Overall it was pretty nice to see new variants and the paint schemes they showed were pretty dope. Oh and the "Galactic tour" it was a great nod to Clarkson's show premiering the same day :D

I REALLY want the prowler because it looks so menacing but putting it this close to Xmas i won't be able to get yet but the next time i see that bad boy come on sale i'll be grabbing it for sure.

Haven't really played SC it some time due to really slow internet speed for DL like it takes me 25 hours+ to download every patch. So i'm looking forward to 2.6 and beyond as it will be a legit patcher instead of having to re download the game every time they update it.
