******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Haven't really played SC it some time due to really slow internet speed for DL like it takes me 25 hours+ to download every patch. So i'm looking forward to 2.6 and beyond as it will be a legit patcher instead of having to re download the game every time they update it.

Evocati have to download two versions every patch as they've got live/PTU access, painful!

Watched a bit of the stream last night before i had to ditch it to go to bed due to work at 5am :D

That massive ship was quite impressive as was the guy floating past it one moment without a helmet then the next with lol.

Are they really saying that you can have a ship manned with that much crew in an online game?

I skimmed through the video today and from it I've seen a massive cargo ship that looks like some type of planetary invasion vessel for want of a better word.

IF that is indeed possible in the final game I'm buying it without hesitation.

Be cool to land on a planet turning on the ships lights and blinding every mofo about before 40 troops disembark from the hold.

Can but dream.

You can already do multicrew, they simply don't have those ships in yet to use. The Idris looks fantastic but to be honest even much smaller ships which will be easier to earn in the game will be relatively big and can be crewed by friends or NPCs.

Remember there's the "agent smith" mechanic too, so if your friend is out in his ship with an NPC he's hired as a gunner, you can jump into the NPCs body and control it, rather than having to fly over to where your friend is to join in the fun, it's mechanics like that which will make the game great fun - but they still need to prove they can make it work.

Yep hit the nail on the head there. Massive scope to this game with all the mechanics they have to get right to make it work. Makes me dubious if we will see a release.

Have they allocated a timeframe yet?

Seems a lot to get right.

So 2.6 is going to be released soon?

Why have they shown 3.0? I'm confused by it all honestly lol.

Don't like the idea of being able to jump into an npc body, kinda kills the immersion.

We should be made to fly out or be picked up if we want to multicrew not just spawn on an npc.

That's fine if your mate isn't 2 hours fllying time away, remember they want it to suit casual players too. You won't gain anything when in that NPC from what I understand, as it's not "you" it's the NPC you are controlling, hence the benefit going to your friend.

Likely going to be limits on it too in order to prevent whole orgs transferring to NPCs in a Javelin, then hoping to a nearby boarding craft when it suits.

We already have this right now in Elite: Dangerous, so it's obviously possible... whether RSI/CGI can make it work within SC is the real question.

Have they allocated a timeframe yet?
Apparently, in response to severe criticism by the fanbase, RSI are releasing their internal timescales... having just stated that they're all very tentative anyway, so still technically anyone's guess as to when anything will happen.

Went through a couple of fan-made tutorials on how stuff works, but trying things in-game (docking, entering ship, opening doors) mostly resulted in CTDs. I couldn't even get the >>USE icon to come up on my 300i when on the landing pad. Worked fine in Hangar, but every time I went back to Olisar and booked out the 300i, it just crapped out.
How can I test everything when even the basics keep failing?
:(

did anyone else get the letter from the chairman and read the first bit thinking uh oh :D

well it wasnt a push for more money for once, so that was a surprise.
Also releasing the timeline is just going to mildly please some rabid fans, delays will occur and its generally a bit useless and likely will get them more criticism in the long run.

2017 is the year for Star Citizens :) ^^^^^
