******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Some noob took Floppy Poppy's Starfare out for a test fight, without permission and then crashed it into a ring, you can't hear me but i seen it coming and got out just in time, Floppy Poppy got his revenge.

Beautiful, im going to sort my views of stuff out from tonight now :D

Sadly my view of my kamikaze was fully corrupted luckily the rest was only slightly you will see the green bar at the top was across almost all of it.

On a side note i have a new ship.. again. have been after one for a while and found someone ( on humbugs favorite graphics card website ) selling a CCU from redeemer to retaliator bomber for £20 and knowing the redeemer was buyable i have CCU a Lti 85x to a redeemer and bought the upgrade.

She is a beauty. Her torpedos really hurt but want to do some fixed testing with them. Have found that any small ships ie hornets/glaives are 1 hit in the pu with a single torp.

I knew they were further ahead than we expected. Makes me interested to see what they have prepped for gamescom in august.

Already complete in 3.0
RenderTarget refactor
  • This saves over 50% of video memory usage.

Nice saving there, no doubt it will be allocated elsewhere :D

Thanks for the information time to purchase a new monitor :)

Got my stick configured this morning and used TrackIR in the Glaive for the first time, quite unusual :D Find flying with stick so much more enjoyable though, might still give dual sticks another go later though. Never say never!

So i bought a 290 a few years ago and got a free ship for this game but at the time there was basically just a hangar and not much else.

As someone who loved Elite and Frontier back in the day, i have occasionally glanced at this game, after watching Humbug's video on the previous page I'm blown away totally.

So how do i get into this? I have my login info still so can download the client etc.

Are all the spaceships only bought with real cash? Or can you buy with ingame credits?

Is there FPS type stuff to do on planets or is it pretty much just flying around in space right now doing stuff?

Can i play with keyboard and mouse? I also have an Xbox controller can i use that for flying? Prefer kB and mouse for FPS type stuff though.

So many questions, i apologize in advance lol

Hi pal welcome back to looking at SC!,

What video was it of humbugs that you are refering too :)? seing as you own a game package once you have downloaded it you simply join into what you want to do be it pirate swarm/vanduul swarm/racing/star marine or that you will see us in most. Crusader (mini pu) In there you can do several missions and lots of "unlisted" stuff. We usually just enjoy going with the general flow of the evening though. (and occasionally launching rattlers at @pete910)

you can only currently buy ships with real money but it should not be too long until they start trialing buying ships with in game money. aUEC as it's known being alphaUEC. This will all get wiped from time to time so keep that in mind as we are still in alpha.

you can't land on planets yet. But today they released the production schedule report for patch 3.0 there you can land on planets and will have a lot of other activity than we currently do. ( a lot lot more by the seems of it )

I would say because it's a pc game you should be able to use an xbox pad with it. However you may find mouse easier if you practice a little with using gimbals weapons. Personal preference will come through though eventually :P. You can't really get enough controls on an xbox pad in my eyes for the flying in this. The keyboard hosts a lot of commands for us.

Feel free to ask any questions pal we are always happy to chime in :).

SiDeards73 feel free to fire any questions into this thread and we'll answer them, first thing to remember though is that it's not a game yet, it's still a lot of modules which are like mini-games, much of the fun is player made there's not a huge amount of content.

Having said that several of us are probably way past the 500 hour mark in time we've spent playing the various modules. :)

The 3.0 features are kind of interesting; it looks like the original 2.7 patch but with all the back ground features and networking from 3.0 and some bits of the original 3.1. This is not me complaining it’s just shows the volatility of game making that we the public don’t usually see and what these teams need to do to adapt to changing situations.

as far as i know 2.7 was NEVER a thing. It was something that they mentioned once in stream saying " if some features are ready very early we may consider releasing them " but never have they ever said these features will be in 2.7 we have known for years we will go from 2.6 - 3.0

Will be back home tomorrow so will fire up the launcher and install and take the freebie ship i got out for a spin. Interested in just doing the missions that Humbug was doing, repairing uplinks etc, would like to try out the fps stuff too, running around with guns and whatever :)

Will get it all setup and have a fly around practicing etc first then look you all up for some fun.

Anyone know if the freebie AMD ship is any good?

Wasn't it gamescon last August when 3.0 was announced? Before that I always remember 2.7 being the introduction of the planetary tech?

Freebie AMD ship? was there a promotion at some point ? remember what name it is?

In other news

Those darn over powered practically indestructible cutlasses, you know the ones that we spend 5 mins all laying into before they die.

Happily the retaliator has turned into a fantastic problem solver.

Any ideas on what monitor you fancy :D?

Harry i would like the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q gaming monitor but paranoid about the quality assurance problems people have had.

I got a 980 ti and I7 so should power it fine, jesus just noticed how many ships you have LOL

After a bit of a read might go for this
Dell S2716DG 27" 2560x1440 TN G-Sync 144Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor £200 cheaper
