Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread

I've been drawn into this and have been considering getting one of the £43 starter packages to have a play around with it. I mean you can't really complain for that price.

One question though, if there an official Discord server for Star Citizen? I like to be able to chat with people about things as well and as I know very little about this game it would be good to get up to speed with it.

That seems fair enough. @Halfmad @humbug they will be able to help you out in regards to getting up to speed and I would suggest you may as well hold off for 3.0 to release to the wider PU and check out Citizencon to see much more news and overall updates on what SC is and where they are at. That event is 27th October as heads up.

Based on the speed that it has moved so far I would say it is likely to be late November now. I was optimistic at end October until we got to see some of the bugs etc.

And I guess you could say that the Pre-Alpha that is 3.0 is in Alpha testing. If you are expecting or wanting anything that is at Beta level and test then you will be wanting 4.0 to come and that honestly is looking to be 2019 (end of) at the moment.

As they have already said the changes are very extensive, pretty much everything you see in the PU now is place holding, 3.0 is almost completely new and it is taking a lot of work ironing out its many kinks.

But it is worth the wait.

@Cromulent This is our org... https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/PAGAN it will be re-themed at some point, its a bit place holder for now and most of us are inactive while the game is what it currently is, but a few of us are around to help, having said that those of us who are around at the moment don't have the current live build installed because we are testing 3.0 (Me and Raumerik) but i at least am still willing to offer up any help you may require, be it here or in our Discord.

I just had a email from support about squadron 42. They said that I won't be able to play it till it comes out. Oh well.

They haven't completed it, they are testing it, as every other game tests their games ALA beta/Alpha, to try and find bugs so that when people play it they aren't playing a broken mess. Your about as smart as that ***** D.Smart.

As someone who has had a refund on this game i can tell you that you are talking utter gash.

What are you going on about. They said I can buy Star Citizen and play it now but it is still in alpha. You need to take a chill pill...or two

Its nowhere near alpha.

the 3.0 release is the first true alpha product so to speak.

You say that like we would be upset, some of us also have Elite, its not one or the other like some church mentality but rather the more nerd games there are the better, have fun in Elite, check back in here at a later date to see if you're ready to give this a go too.

I backed Elite back in the first day of it's kickstarter, there is no SC or ED mentality here. I've played both, I like both but I prefer playing the alpha of SC in all it's broken glory.

It’s not a game though, it’s product in development that’s absolutely nowhere finished. But due the nature of the open development it’s always in the public eye, there is something to play and mess around (test..) whilst it’s being developed. Sure it’s taking along time, but it’s a bloody huge game!
I paid for it and I get a little frustrated with it, I bought a package last November, messed around a little had a good time and now I’ll wait for 3.0, when that hits I’m sure I’ll do the same with that build, play, have fun laugh at all the stupid bugs it has put it down and wait for the next build.
The game will done when it’s done, and all the moaning in the world won’t change that

Thank you very much for the information. Looks good. I like no drama guilds. I've joined the Discord server just so I can hang out for a bit with you guys.

I have to warn you I know basically nothing about Star Citizen. I've only recently become interested in it and haven't been following the game up to this point so I might ask some stupid question from time to time. All I know is that Star Citizen 3.0 is the flavour of the month at the moment.
