******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Been playing this on an off for years, still hate the controls menu.. with a passion!

Wish they'd implement one far more like Elite: Dangerous has. It's not just the menu, it's being unable to test functionality of devices etc easily whilst in them - then having multiple menus to get back into the one you just ******* left!

that's looking pretty tasty. is that part of a plot thing? i'm assuming those meteors are falling wreckage?

Yes, its part of the single player campaign, Squadron 42, it will also be a location in the Multiplayer Universe, and its its falling debris.

So this thread is on the verge of four years old now. How's everyone finding the game? How did it sell? What about post launch support and did everyone get the ships they paid (through the nose) for? I haven't seen any reviews of the main game or Squadron 42 anywhere?

They still seem to be releasing new ships. Probably because they have realised that they were too ambitious and have no idea what to do next. 180 million down the pan.

The time this game actually releases in any kind of finished form the graphics will be incredibly dated and there will be much better offerings.

Been testing this out recently as i have a space itch i needed to scratch.

There has been progress all be it slow progress. I see that hurston and arc corp are coming soon and some major network code being implemented soon too.

The fps drops are apparent but will be mostly addressed with the new container streaming/networking update coming in a couple of patches time.

I have hopes of a beta next year but nothing is guaranteed i guess. Been doing some missions and checking out the moons and trading some cargo here and there.

I have a Logitech grey base X56 due here any time today and so will be testing out what they have made good compared with the Saitek variant before it.
I also read a post from the Logitech devs that a new software version is being worked on as well but takes time to fine tune.

Atomic - setting up controls is still a pain, wish they'd adopt the menu system from Elite: Dangerous to be honest. The current one is just far too fiddly, too much quitting it to test a setting then going back in through other menus to get to it etc.

Still I'm sat on my little 4 core 8Gb RAM machine so won't be back for a while lol

ah dont worry they will switch engine again to compensate and beg for more money from the community to do it.

So what are people's thoughts on this? I see is still alpha but with $180 million thrown at it there must be progress?

I do like the look of Star Citizen, I'm not worried about time to release as long as it gets there.

It is miles from being done mate, But don't think 180 mill is a lot for an mmo cus it really is not, SWTOR cost load more to make, and that game is ****
