******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

You can already do multicrew, they simply don't have those ships in yet to use. The Idris looks fantastic but to be honest even much smaller ships which will be easier to earn in the game will be relatively big and can be crewed by friends or NPCs.

Remember there's the "agent smith" mechanic too, so if your friend is out in his ship with an NPC he's hired as a gunner, you can jump into the NPCs body and control it, rather than having to fly over to where your friend is to join in the fun, it's mechanics like that which will make the game great fun - but they still need to prove they can make it work.

Don't like the idea of being able to jump into an npc body, kinda kills the immersion.

We should be made to fly out or be picked up if we want to multicrew not just spawn on an npc.

That's fine if your mate isn't 2 hours fllying time away, remember they want it to suit casual players too. You won't gain anything when in that NPC from what I understand, as it's not "you" it's the NPC you are controlling, hence the benefit going to your friend.

Likely going to be limits on it too in order to prevent whole orgs transferring to NPCs in a Javelin, then hoping to a nearby boarding craft when it suits.

Pledge ships prices always go up, cheapest at concept then rise each time they're on "sale" ironically. The only ones which stay the same (except war bond versions) are usually those in the store all the time.

Only exception I can see so far is the Banu Merchantman, which is likely to be offered yet again in unlimited quantity completely at odds with it's lore of being a family heirloom handed down from generation to generation which has found it's way into UEE hands.. Honestly, lore takes a back seat now and then to raising funds.. at least with that and the Freelancer MIS (another lore "limited" ship) which is constantly on sale.

I've no problems with tons of people owning these, just wish they'd alter the lore to suit.

Get the Hotas X then mate, it's the best of both worlds but don't be too hard on yourself if you struggle at all - a good quality stick makes an average pilot a good pilot lol There are a lot more options in the client now for tweaking axis sensitivity, deadzones etc.

I should know, I used an X52 for years and was pretty dire, got the T16000m, paired it with a CH pro throttle and now I'm at least vaguely competent ! :D

The game players pretty well with keyboard/mouse by the way especially if you have something like a Roccat Tyon which has a little analog axis on it you can use for roll, but even without it many players swear by it - rather than a HOTAS :)

Ahh ok thanks, maybe I wont need HOTAS at all. It's just that one I originally linked is going for just under £30 on the rainforest currently.

Tbh, I've only played Star Citizen once since owning it - more just that I want to wait for more features before jumping back online. Im absolutely dying to get on again now but dont wanna get bored due to lack of things to do and lose my interest in the game.

Hop on with Humbug, myself and the others. It's way more fun when all crewing a ship or going around in a little fleet! Friday's at 9pm usually!

Thanks for the offer guys, I'll definitely take you up on that! It'd be nice to actually learn about what I can and cant do too and be shown around :D

No worries, tours are our second speciality, our first is dying horribly :D

However... My biggest concern is switching from flying spaceships with HOTAS to going FPS with WASD KB&M for all the walking around and shooting stuff outside the ship.
Despite having a largeish desk, I just don't have the room for both in any comfortable setup. So for SC, I'm sticking with KB&M.

I'm switching back and forth between HOTAS and kb/m, honestly can't say which I prefer, KB/M is certainly more convenient for exiting the ship etc and I've got a Roccat Tyon so "roll" is on the mouse which feels really good.. but I don't find it as engaging or intuitive as HOTAS when flying :(

I always used HOTAS in Elite and games before that so perhaps that's part of the issue. It's ingrained now!
