******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

No doubt some wont' like it, don't know anyone who's tried it who didn't think it was worth doing though to be honest. Although focus has been on Star Marine for obvious reasons :D

If you ever wondered why non gamers think we are all a bunch of nerdy kids, just watch this sketch before the EU vs USA.

Also it's like they have to get every socially awkward person working there and stick them in front of the camera.

Whole lot has been a cringe fest.

Or go along to a Star Citizen event and discover they're all just normal people having fun? :p

Star marine is excellent, I completely disagree :P

They need to stop doing so many end of year events, thin it out too more. Gamescom, Citizencon, anniversary and Christmas events makes little sense, you can't consistently release lots of content like that.

Concierge last night:

"We should be involved, it's mean to be open development, this is ridiculous."

Same guy this morning (he got in with subscriber access)

"this is a buggy mess, why am I wasting my time?"

lol same idiot was questioning why the Evocati were there because they don't do much and suggesting a rename because they aren't special.

They do a live stream as it's more FUN, they'll edit it all to make it look better later - they always do. No two ways about it though since Mike Morlan left the audio issues have become more of an issue and they don't seem to be able to get a handle on it.

It's no where near as simple as many people think to do a live stream the way they do it - multiple sites, multiple cameras, multiple mics on multiple continents. Personally I'd rather they moved to a split - pre-record the marketing guff, the Q&A and then have streams of the competitions (which I REALLY enjoyed). This is how WMH use to do it, Mike would pre-record/edit sections they could throw in whilst they setup the next interview etc.

Tbh I wish they never bothered with SQ42 and put all their recourses into the persistent universe.
Without squadron 42 we'd have no Manchester office and honestly some of the best work has come from there. It was created specifically so Erin could organise the single player campaign, he likely wouldn't be involved without that freedom. They also have different people working on Sq42 and PU so it wouldn't be here any faster without SQ42 tbh. Throwing more staff at this won't speed it up, a lot of the time is going into testing and background mechanics like the economy, missions etc which Tony Z is in charge of. The smaller offices arguably are putting out better content imho. Germany and Manchester are punching well above their weight.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/faq/two-step-authentication

How do I login without access to the authenticator app or email?

You must have the authenticator app or an email address to initialize two-step authentication. Once it’s setup, you will have the ability to download or print 10 one-time use backup codes on the security settings page. These backup codes will allow you to access your account even if you don’t have access to your phone or email. Keep them with you to ensure you will always have access to your RSI account.

;)

Yup that sounds server related, honestly not sure why they put 2.6 out to another wave without sorting Crusader etc out. Might have been after crash reports though tbh.

With regards to SQ42 I've no idea tbh we've been given very little information on it, PU won't be out 2017, not a hope in hell, I'd be surprised if it even gets into beta by the end of next year if I'm completely honest.

PS been on holidays hence me being quiet lately lol

I'd rather they got the netcode working than added in any additional features, it's meant to be run as a multiplayer game, so bug reports from offline mode would be far less useful to development of the final game, they'd also get fewer reports if people were in offline mode a lot.

Cheat engine itself is fine, it's been around for donkeys however I'm not sure if any cheat protection software will ignore or detect it for VAC bans etc. not looked as I've no intention of using it.

You'll keep whatever insurance the Aurora came with.

LTI isn't a big deal though so even if it's a 3 month insurance package remember that:

1. LTI is exactly the same as Standard hull insurance (SHI) without the recurring cost.
2. Any changes made to the ship aren't covered by LTI or SHI, they have to insured on their own.
3. Doesn't cover cargo.
4. You'll likely struggle to leave a hangar without SHI as there will be layers of reminders to prevent you losing a ship permanently.
5. Game time counts down at around 1 in-game day for 2 hours (subject to change, this is info from 2014). As insurance only counts down when ships are in use you'll have this much use based on the amount of insurance you get free with the ship in actual gameplay time with that ship:

1 month insurance = 60 hours (30 in game days x 2)
3 month insurance = 180 hours
6 months insurance = 360 hours
1 years insurance = 720* hours
2 years insurance = 1440* hours
3 years insurance = 2880* hours
4 years insurance = 5760* hours

(*approx)

Remember this is when that ship is in use, if it's sitting in a hangar it doesn't count down insurance time.

^^I haven't worked this out just for this reply, I've been pondering making an LTI related video as I'm a bit sick of people obsessing over it, it's being hyped by CIG as a marketing tool when it's really just a tiny bonus and wont' help much at all at release.

MrKeeno - Aurora's will be pretty common, most ships will be to be honest and chances are you'd never purposely buy one in-game. You're more likely to save up for an Avenger etc anyway as those will also be more common and are frankly just better.

Set them up entirely in-game, I don't even have TARGET installed. The SC client includes deadzones, curves etc these days. Yes it could be better but it's still better than TARGET lol

Just wish Elite Dangerous had the controller config options, it nails everything except then in the controller options menus :(
