******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Both those things are normal enough. The game can and will max out the cpu, a common thing is to max the graphic settings to push as much as possible off the cpu to the gpu. The thing that makes the largest difference with how your experience will be is the server fps. (console > r_display 2) If it's 10+ you should have a reasonable server, that is things will work as you expect. If the serverfps tanks then you'll see a load of desync, interacting with terminals, elevators etc. will be delayed.

If a server 30k's (crashes) then everyone ends up rejoining, which often takes ages as it spins up a new server. Then there's the general lag as everyone loads in at once.

Interesting, won't go upgrading my CPU just yet ;) Also when SC was first announced, I remember thinking "next year I'm going to make a really strong PC for it", how naïve I was lol.

This brings back a memory or 2 . I remember having a GTX 680 and thinking damn it barely runs at 50fps, i'll need to go SLI so i did anticipating a release for the year after.

What a waste of money that was :o.

Reactions: TNA
Might install this to give it a whirl again one I am done with Starfield.
Lol.

People around the space game community have said that Starfield is secretly free marketing for cig as when some people play and finish Starfield, they will look into star citizen for there mmo / multiplayer fix.

@TNA honestly? I would wait for 4.1 patch come out before jumping into star citizen.

When will 4.1 appear? Any time between now and 2030

Carrack over Area 18, This game is pure eye candy !

You're probably not wrong, With progress being painfully slow I genuinely do not see 4.0, Nevermind 4.1, Releasing any time prior to 2028 at the very earliest, 2030 being more realistic and at that point Chris Roberts will likely say -

"We need a few more years to build the systems and tools... at which point we'll use those systems and tools to build new systems and tools that will be used to build the systems and tools we need to add content for more systems and tools."

I was looking at the roadmap yesterday, not the release view but the tasks timeline and server meshing doesn't extend beyond september now. That could mean one of three things; server meshing will be ready soon and annouced at citizencon, server meshing is not ready and the roadmap will be extended again, or they're just gonna forget about server meshing on the roadmap and hope no one notices.

Ship winners are in and the Corsair won. Followed by the Vulture, Redeemer, 600i.

Can't say I bothered voting for any of them. Don't own them and so won't get the skins for them.

Being slightly pessimistic but I honestly do not expect Pyro and server meshing any sooner than late 2025. CIG have a painfully slow dev process which I find a little crazy considering they have over 1000 developers working for them now across multiple studios.

The funny thing is that it's not pyro that's necessarily holding back 4.0.

All the planets are basically done. Ruin station looks to be almost complete and they have even done most of the missions and factions as well!

What's holding it back is server meshing.

This is why I find the detailed progress charts more interesting is that server meshing has always been shown and time extended as its hit problems but it just stops in September which either suggests they're holding stuff back in the chart for citizencon or its actually complete and they will release static as v0 at citizencon and then, like PES, stress test it over the next few months.

I'd like to think that CIG will surprise everyone near the end of Citizencon and announce on stage at the very last minute with Chris Roberts "Oh by the way... going live... server meshing and Pyro in December, Happy holidays !" but that won't happen as that would be great and I've learned to always look on the pessimistic side when it comes to CIG.

Here's hoping but doubtful as you say.

It's a 2 day event and in person for the first time since covid hit, it needs something special like that

there was a huge amount of threads on the original boards w/ people talking/doing upgrades for something that was supposed to be out in a year-ish. wonder how much money SC cost people in that respect.
