******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Managed to get it all working the. With a few of the lads here. Nothing changed so no idea what issue was earlier. We all got a 30k earlier but otherwise had been solid FPS then. Back to solid 60fps and all fine then.

We all had drops to 25fps at end of pirate swarm when the Idris and Javlin and 8 or so F8 lightings were flying about but was good fun!

Got about 1hr solid play in before dinner times. Hopefully bit more later.

Haven't seen this for a while. Has it gone ****up already?

Yep! PES fully broken and major outage already. Whatever they claimed to fix in the post mortem and between 3.18 to now clearly didn't fix it at all.

Seems we got lucky for the hour we played earlier.

Server outage completely broke the game for me, not been able to login since as I get error 30009 and an infinite loading screen.

Even post "fix" it still happens, had to submit a ticket in the hopes it gets sorted. Annoying as I literally just upgraded my system (2700x to 5800x3d) and what I did play was butter smooth.

We played for about an hour last night after first session. Didn't do a lot, a quick bounty contract with lads in turret etc. @pete910 wasn't getting world rendered though like shader issue.

No problems with performance that session though. Solid 60fps again and inventory was all running fine, didn't have to do any silly double move rubbish at time.

Dang that frustrating. Hopefully they get you sorted quick. Jumping back in and having a few hours reminds me why I enjoy this game a lot more than most with the just go do anything and switch to different things whenever and it all be just one big seamless experience.

We had some fun as wel on Arena commander pirate swarm and that was brilliant.

One things for sure. if the PU is in a very bad state, there is plenty to do in Arena commander now if you want your SC fix.

I did jump back in late at night on the pu and did some bunker runs with a mate. All was good . Inventory system sometimes diddnt load but after 5 or so mins it worked again.

seems to get broken and then work again and this was on the same shard.

That's an insanely good upgrade for this game too. Hope it gets sorted quickly.

Tbh sc has the best controls for joysticks then any other space sim I tried.

Far better than elite dangerous, no man's sky and Starfield.

Do you have any recommendations other than those 3 that I could try?

Unfortunately no , I was asking you because those were the ones I'd earmarked myself lol. Bloody useless

I know X4 etc support it but they are really nothing like SC or Elite, to the point I shouldn't even have mentioned it. Choices are very limited I guess unless you want to dip in to flight Sims but HOTAS would be better for those whereas I think I'll end up with HOSAS.
I kept thinking I'd just get one stick to start with but that's kinda pointless, so really the only choice is to fork out for the full setup right away.

Ahhh right ok!

If you play sc as your daily driver then it's worth getting some dual joysticks as they work amazing with it for flying the ships and dog fighting or racing.

For all the faults and issues that people have with sc, the current flight mechanics is one of if not its strongest point about sc.

Can't stress this enough. Moving to twin sticks and pedals from one stick and keyboard was amazing. Is it needed, no but it's so much fun.

My setup is VKB Glad evos and racing pedals: Right stick points the ship nose, left stick 'strafes' (up,down, left, right) the ship, and pedals are forward, back.

Cheap end there's Thrustmaster T16000's which loads of people I know use but they eventually develop a fault on the Z axis. There is a fix though.
"Mid" would be VKB Gladiator Evo's although they're a good jump up in price, there amazing, really solid and an insane jump in quality and options; love mine.
"High" would be Virpil's and the constellation alpha I think. A different shape is the big difference vs the VKBs but meant to be a higher quality again, etc. Although personally I've not used them, I feel diminishing returns has kicked in a bit.

The only other space game that I've used them in is StarWars Squadrons and that's just isn't as good :D Otherwise it's IL2 (warbirds?) and DCS I believe are the other main combat flights sims.

Was going to X4 for a single player experience is excellent with so much to it. There basically everything there that CIG trying to do in the multiplayer and the economic side is ace whilst also flight etc really good fun. Course it is much more well space bound since there isn't any planetary atmospheric stuffs.

Otherwise SC still the only real space game with kinda just fly anywhere that feels good to me.

It would have to the Virpil alpha primes, I like the mostly metal construction and to me is worth the small premium over the already excellent alpha. Think I prefer the HAT too

I like the shape more of the Virpils but read they were a bit bigger physically that I was unsure I'd like. I also wasn't personally convinced over the price difference. Saying that, everyone I know that has Virpils, loves them and I do know a few people that moved from the VKBs to Virpils.

With it being space combat as well, I wanted (and use) light springs and dampeners, didn't want to be fighting with the stick for long sessions. A lot of the race sim lot want realisim, stiff pedals that mimic real breaks etc. I don't think we need that for space. It would have been nice if force feedback hadn't died off though. Recreating true fly by wire systems would be great. Dynamically adjusting the resistances on control surfaces depending on the situation and what they plane is doing.
