4 figures deep

Wow. What the...

Anyone else here spent 4 figures? I am about £30 in profit so far as my package was around £50 but I sold an AMD code ship fir around £80 as I recall.

Hopefully I will be in more profit in the next 2-3 years once I sell the Sabre Raven. If you think you can flip it, I would take £200 today :p

I think he's genuinely confused Jonney for someone else tbh.
If i have, it'll have been for similar reasons but for another game. Its the only reason i do it. If someone is doing it frequently enough to recognise they keep doing it, i've zero interest in hearing what they've got to say.

He came off the list the same time someone else joined it.

I have zero interest in paying for ships. Earning them by playing sounds like a lot more fun. But I get the feeling they will make it super hard to be able to buy those big ships by just playing.

Happy I have LTI on my 300i.

Yeah, and im someone who looks at like $150 Collectors Editions and thinks what a rip-off :D (in fairness, they are)

It just snowballed, wasnt the intention. I bought a Starfarer on greymarket because everything i'd read said that was my only option. I'd misunderstood and thought it was never going to be sold again, like the Idris. So overpaid there (although cheaper than it ended up at).
Then i bought $500 credit to get a Retaliator and a BMM next time they went on sale. Ended up picking up a Reclaimer instead when the concept came around, and a Gladius at concept too. Then i just recycled credit around for ages.
Wasnt until this year that i went a little nuts. Spent about $200 on warbond CCUs and £500 on $1355 (50% cost) of someone elses store credit. It basically halves the cost of whatever i buy in the future, on top of the CCU savings i have.

At the moment its enough to end up with the Starfarer, Mercury Star Runner (via AMD reward), and Cutless Black (via 10 referrals). Then the Polaris, Perseus, Merchantman and Orion ($575 Orion costs me the same as $675 Perseus and $750 Polaris combined cos i cant use BMM CCU ), and i should have enough left over for an Idris.
Its still cost something like $1500, so still obscene money spent, but just shy of $5k in ships ($5k of 1s & 0s), and im hoping theres enough change from melting unused CCUs to keep the F8C.

You know what is missing from your collection? A Sabre Raven :p

Jokes aside. Shame it is tied to an account. But if this game turns to be half as good as it looks and sounds I am sure I will fetch a decent amount for it eventually as it is a clean unused account.

:D Yeah.
The AMD reward Mustang Omegas were going for $20 a pop for ages, that includes both games. They fetch $300+ now.
Similar story with the Raven, they were as low as $70 i think, and im pretty sure you'd sell one for $1k within the hour.
They did a skin for a $40 ship, the Dragonfly, featuring a fictional cartoon character Star Kitten (very Hello Kitty), and you got it by referring 1 new player. Accounts with that on them now sell for about $1000 just for that skin alone. Obscene.
Anything that has a short window for being able to get it, becomes highly valuable over time. I think people have twigged now and people try to stockpile and/or create new accounts just to have access to duplicates, so probably not the same sort of money available going forward.

Sadly nobody is really interested in buying accounts unless they have a lot of good CCUs on them which they can profit from. I think typically accounts go for about 40% of what they melt for, more if theres items of value in them and they can be split.
Rare items like the Raven ideally needs someone without an account who wants to buy that specific ship, or they're willing to ditch their existing account for someone elses.

Its also worth mentioning that selling CCUs, Ships & other bits n pieces with the 'Gift' option is tolerated by CIG. Selling accounts isnt. One is 'Greymarket', the other is 'Blackmarket' because it becomes very messy transferring ownership when the original owner turns around and says they've been hacked, heres proof of ownership etc.
Theres plenty of it going on though, and im sure theres a handful of horror stories, but things seem to be much better these days. People send Paypal invoices for requesting payment, with the trade agreement stuff in them, so theres a decent record of an agreement between the two that Paypal & CIG can follow.

I've only spent about £80 all in on this but I met some people in high 5 figures over the weekend lol.

All this CCU chaining stuff just baffles me. Not managed to get my head around it at all!
I'm just here with my Cutter, that I upgraded from an Aurora MR via a Mustang Beta. Suspect I'll upgrade to the Avenger Titan at some point, especially if they update the model to be gold standard.

Resisted temptation to buy anything expensive so far. Was a little tempted last year for the C1 Spirit (glad I skipped that due to how much it's bloated in standard Crusader style), and do quite like the Zeus MkII variants...

Until a couple of days ago you were on my blocked list for a good 4-5yrs i'd imagine, cos of the constant popping in just to tell us it was all a scam etc. :p

Its a shame more people dont realise they can actually change their mind and hop off the 'Scam Citizen' bandwagon, and actually enjoy it and appreciate what it is thats being done.

While were on the topic of when we all backed, i was Feb 13, 2014. A little late to the party. Never played any CR game but was aware of them at the time. I've never really liked Space games, or much space themed media (Star Wars & Red Dwarf being the exceptions), and when my mate mentioned it I briefly remembered skimming a news article about a crowd funded game that had hit $38m i think, and thought it was absolutely idiotic. I told my mate "i dont do space" and then about a week later after looking into what they were trying to do, i bought an Aurora LN package and figured i'd come along for the ride. $45 was about the price of a decent game on Steam, i dont need a 300i or Avenger, $45 is enough. And i stayed true to myself for a whole 2 weeks before buying a Starfarer, then a Reclaimer (concept) shortly after, and then... 4 figures deep :(.

Im hoping to nab an Idris if they come up during IAE next month, with credit though.
I realised a couple of months ago that the ship package i had, which offered great value ($495 for Carrack (into Reclaimer), Terrapin (to BMM) & Dragonfly + both games), had kinda locked me into ships and CCU options i wasnt bothered about, and that with the CCUs i had, not only i could actually remake it for less, i could get FAR more with.
Right now my account has $1025 worth of CCUs alone (melt value) simply because im still working towards building the ships i want. For example i've got the Polaris down to $257.50 already (missing 2 CCUs, no saving from them) and know i can improve that to $187.50 from previous warbonds coming back up. Likewise, if theres price increases on various $50-200 ships then that could save a chunk too. fwiw, Hull B should be worth picking up during IAE if they dont increase its price beforehand. Hull A went from $60 to $90, Hull C was $200, then 350, now $500. So Hull B wont be staying at $140, thats for sure, nor the $450 Hull D (cheaper than C atm).
Well worth picking up Freelancer DUR to Hull B CCU or 10 if it stays at $5. Would expect that to end up at $200 ($60 increase/saving), $250 is plausible with CIG.
Wait when did I say this was ever a scam lol!

Wtf I barely posted here between 2015 and 2020 as I just watched bored gamer videos to keep up to date!

You are best just sticking with the basic and earning it in game.

I say that as a 10+ years subscriber who's thrown 4 figures just at that though.
That's the plan. No intention on getting carried away with it. Just somewhat curious about how it works. I know a few people who are £1k+ deep into the game now, and that's before adding in the all the Virpil joysticks and other accessories they've bought!

Doubt it.

I've never called any game here a scam. If its a game I dislike I don't or barely make a post about it and tend to stick to and post on threads of games I'm interested in so you must have mistaken me from someone else.

Unless it was you slaying a game and i defending it lol

I've just restarted my journey into racing sim and I'm around 2k deep into it and that was just the steering wheel, pedels and a basic frame to hold it!

Can finally be mildly excited for this again, bit annoying that I sold my package (Rear Admiral or something) but then I wanted the money more then a vague promise so not that annoyed plus I saw it as an investment in a near dead genre that desperately needed something big.

Always hoped it would eventually reach release (bar the occasional meme calling it a scam for luls) and will more than happily hand over a more sensible amount of money for just the game without all the time-cheating bonuses.

After the disappointment of Starfield, I've got my 'space' juices going again a bit, and seeing the Squadron 42 stuff has especially juiced!

Genuine question - is there a game there yet, and how does one even get it?
I looked into this years ago and did a free demo, but decided it looked like a huge con. What's the deal now?

I'd say wait for the next free flight event and see what you think. If you do go that route then there a dozen or so of us about we happy to have a session or more with.

It still has issues as still very much in development but it is getting closer to reality of being something truly unique. When it works and server rate is up it's a great game but the missions that are there are super basic tbh but plenty of things with regards to having combat, salvage, mining, a little cargo hauling etc is in. Plenty of ships to mess around in. The next 12-18 months it will make some reasonably big steps.

Persistence is kinda there but it single shard based so logging in and out means not always obvious. Patches at min I'm personally found pretty rough but others not as much.

SC is more of a game now but a very very very buggy game with unfinished game loops, lack of dynamic economy and not a fully fledged 1000 plus mmo as it needs server meshing (which should come soon)

There will be another free to fly event next month during IAE where you can even get to fly 90 percent of the ships in game for free.
