******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

There's no competition between them, that's like comparing Colin McRae's Rally with F1. Also Chris Roberts backed Elite in Kickstarter from what I remember.

GTA5 Production costs widely reported as $265million. Don't know what SC current burn rates are like but I doubt they'll take long to reach those numbers.

Also a backer from long time back but really starting to doubt I'll see a finished product any time soon.

Have some real concerns about their funding and business model - few people are going to be spending hundreds or thousands once they're live. Just don't see how this is really sustainable once launched?

Costs will drop post launch but there will still be transactions of some kind, that's always been the model. Financially I don't think they are in that bad a spot they've recently had another wealthy person buy a chunk of the company (can't remember exact percentage) but the wealthy don't splash out like that unless they will make a few bucks later on.

Most people spending thousands can afford it tbh, they'll likely continue to do so post launch if it makes them feel "special" and gives them that extra special Jpeg :D

That's assuming we get to launch, I'm getting old. Maybe I'll pass on my account to my daughter who was 2 when this all started out..

People are either just playing the alpha and enjoying it or not paying any attention to it at all (I'm in the latter). Although mainly as they are still changing the flight system and I can't be bothered spending hours setting up my Warthog and pedals for it only for it to change in the next patch.

Still needs more content to close some game play loops for starters.

Mike, many of us play Elite or did. I'd be happy with Elite's method of showing landing etc. Currently SC annoys me with it's lean towards making the game too much like a chore to play by comparison.

I hope it comes out. I *think* it will come out... But if it doesn't and CIG were to liquidate on the bright side they have some grade A assetts. Maybe frontier develipments could buy them up and slurp them into elite ;)

If game development ever stopped, the IP would stay with CR and we'd see movies. You can tell he's chomping at the bit to do a TV series or movie with this.

Was it it 2015, late 2016, fall 2017, early 2018 and then late 2019?

I'm confident it'll be out before the current in-game date: 2949 :D

Honestly we're still years away, think I said that years ago too. Many of us still dip into it now and then but it's hard to keep interested when there's no gameplay loops.
