******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I've concluded the release of Star Citizen is tied in with my retirement age so only about 30 years to go :)

Loving the 100 series though, no doubt it'll be reworked half a dozen times before release though.

I can't wait for us to move into beta in 2032.

Hmmm, a very niche non MMO, that isn't out yet and has been in dev for over a decade, has become a complete meme in the mean time, is going to go on and be as succesful as the most successful MMO of all time. What you're feeling is extreme delusion stemming from being totally emotionally invested in a game.
Beats being emotionally invested in a random forum thread..

'That doesn't mean not being critical or negative over something'
.... but if someone calls the project a scam, a critical negative, then toys get thrown out of the pram :cry:

As mentioned before why not just ignore/mute the people

I think it's difficult for those who aren't fans or keen on the project to grasp that some (not including myself in this) don't see the money they have chucked at this as poor value for money., they are happy with it - Fair play to them.

I'm still very on the fence about it, I've hard literally hundreds, possibly thousands of hours of actual fun messing about in this but I still don't have what I'd consider a proper game, even a fraction of what was offered and what I actually backed for. If I totalled up the hours/pound then yeah totally value for money but it feels like paying for a four course meal and getting unlimited bread and water at the moment.

It's differing opinions, there's plenty of negativity on here about the project, but at least when people have skin in the game the rest can see them as something other than trolls being trolls and going for post count. It's a discussion forum though, problem is many post here without any real interest in discussion (I'm increasingly in this camp). It's just drop in, scream about it being a scam for a few post then disappear for six months.

Yup.

The fully fledged gold standard ship insurance is not in game yet.

That will be one of the last things they add in game where you will be able to buy insurance and different levels too .

Like basic insurance that allows you to claim and build a stock version of your ship. or gold standard insurance where they build your ship and retain all this existing loadout you had on it plus maybe items inside you stored as part of the insurance claiming.

What they've said about insurance over the years has changed so much I'd stick a pin in it until beta, release, whenever - we could be landed with all sorts of random nonsense which contradicts what's been said previously.

I'm gearing up to spending 3 hours trying to get my HOTAS and pedals setup to try out live tomorrow (going to skip PTU for now)

Need an early night to keep motivated :D

Frontier have a problem on their hands though, much like WoW oddly enough - once the player base starts to dwindle you need to catch them quick.

I don't see ED doing much soon other than quality of life improvements, ironically the same sort of this SC has failed to do for years and consistently been forgiven for.

Yeah let's just just have a blast in SQ42.................... oh wait

People can enjoy what they can play at the moment. But surely even the most die hard of fans must admit that the development progress is a not even a joke, it's a meme at this point.

You can enjoy a game but also be critical of it's short comings.

100% agree.
Good example, I had a friend over yesterday who's got some interest in SC as he knows I've been following it since day 1 and wanted to see where it was now. I tried to show him on the "live" version but couldn't even spawn a ship and that was after it failed to load the first time.

I eventually showed him in PTU but it was over 25 mins of faffing about loading in/out etc before I even got to my MSR to show him the ship, by which point it was painfully obvious that the "game" is a million miles from release. I stopped recommending anyone put money into this thing years ago because of this sort of reliability issue. If I can't reliably "play" what skeleton of a game we have then I don't see how hand on heart I can recommend it to my worst enemy. never mind someone who would trust my judgement.

I wonder how long it will be before Roberts introduces NFT's?

Sadly I don't think anyone other than CR himself can rule this out, until he's on video saying so I won't believe they wont' somehow jump on the bandwagon.
Personally I think it's daft to incorporate NFTs into games. Although I think NFTs themselves are largely a money laundering function with some people throwing money at it due to fear of missing out tbh.

Just spotted your sig, that Org still active? I'm in an Org with another group of friends, but as I understand you can be in multiple Orgs? Would be good to have more people to fly with!

I'm rarely on as I struggle to keep up with patches (thanks "broadband"). Although Humbug and some of the others are way more active than me.

Nobody cares how many orgs you are in or whether you are or aren't in ours, just have fun!

I'd welcome QTE if it meant I could get up and in a ship faster when I login.

Takes far too long at the moment, has done for a long time and I don't see it getting better. I get they want it to be more realistic but at this point I'm expecting us to have to log in, get washed, shaved, have breakfast, browse reddit, get dressed, before we even leave the hab to go to the ship.

It should be but I also think a faster respawn is needed.

Doesn't have to be instant but has to be reliable. We don't get that until after (if) they ever get server meshing working though.
