******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Faster respawn? You mean instead of respawning in a hab, you respawn say next to spaceport?

Or allow an option. I'm one of those people who want to crew ships and live on station/planets mostly but would be nice to not spend the first 5 mins traveling.

Frankly I don't have a lot of gaming time these days so that will feel like 5 minutes wasted if I'm not even able to get to a ship or do anything "useful" in that time.

I see they're now hiding away from scrutiny of their own roadmap!

But the lack of progress is YOUR fault backers!

Don't forget that the vague roadmap they are hiding was brought in to obfuscate the original way they were showing progress. For the first few years we had rather specific dates for a lot of these things and would rarely hit them, hence the roadmap. It's never been open development despite the claims.
Kira did a really good video on it, he's not totally accurate but he explains why at the start.

in which case it is quite a wait for me. hypothetically if I played for X number of hrs and got to a certain ship in the game but that gets wiped, but someone else who flopped out £500 (for argument's sake) got to keep theirs that would cheese me off no end, so I will be waiting for soft launch as I don't want to burn out getting reset back to nowt multiple times.

(which is not to say I won't have the odd little dabble)

Persistence isn't really a thing and servers are pathetically small so tbh it's barely worth considering for now.

If it ever comes out it's the time rich people who will ultimately win, having a ship that's big won't actually accumulate wealth if you aren't on to use it.

It was a serious question...back in the day (very early backer) he was very visible, leading from the front etc.

Whilst I have long since lost all faith in this project, I would check back every now and then to hear "The Chairmans latest thoughts etc but am I right in thinking he rarely pops up these days ??

One of the many things that put me off was his awful wife - has she taken the money and run as well or still about ?

He's handed over most of it to actual project managers etc rather than meddling constantly. I can see this only as a positive given the number of set backs largely attributable to his constant desire to promise more and more. The end goal and vision are still his and no doubt he's still hugely influential but if he's not out front and centre he's less likely to make promises he can't keep.

Not sure why people fixate on his wife, seems creepy tbh.

CIG have stated in the past that buying ships from the pledge store will be removed at some point.

Probably once the game is feature complete and in beta.

They may just allow us to buy concept ships only from the pledge store but no ability to buy older ships already released and able to obtain in-game.

It's almost like many games have pledge stores and cash shops these days. People also forget that Elite Dangerous also allowed you to buy certain ships by pledging for specific tiers during funding. This is nothing new. Then again SC takes it to another level routinely and blatantly, while dragging on endlessly. I find it hilarious to see Star Citizen now held up as a way to "do it better" when referring to some newer crowdfunded disasters like Earth 2, as SC has some degree of gameplay.

The whole buying ships thing - I get it they are expensive.

But let's not pretend people aren't thumping a fortune into mobile games and stuff like Genshin Impact, Roblox etc.

It's become the norm. I don't really like it either and SC takes it to a sickening level - but these are adults spending their own money and if they end up with nothing to show for it or not enjoying it then frankly they are no more insane than NFT and Crypto dudes.

To each their own, until then enjoy what little you have, especially if it's half a CPU like Humbug.

What CPU mate? It can impact performance substantially, just as Humbug. Ideally 6 core+

If you are not throttled too much by CPU then you are likely looking at 30-35FPS in space and ~20 in cities. Medium settings and 1080P. That's ball park it won't be great but it will also vary depending on where you are, how well the patch is working etc and you'll find some more optimised areas - I don't play a huge amount anymore as I already have a job and don't need a second one at the moment.

Keyboard and mouse are fine, honestly it's also the easiest way to play.

If you absolutely feel you must the T16000m stick or set (with throttle) are probably best bang for buck. Setting it up can be a pain though. I generally don't bother these days.

VKB are a great quality manufacturer who make excellent products. I had their pedals at one point.

The original T1600Ms were the best, green LEDs, I still have mine and prefer it over my Warthog tbh. The T16000Ms can also be run dual stick if you want as they have grips which come with a left handed set you can swap to which makes them one of the very few left handed joysticks and by far the cheapest one.

The peripheral market is very much a place of fanboy factions. Virpil, VKB etc you can find someone to say one is better than the other.

Reminds me of people arguing over the best mechanical keyboard, it's very personal and "this one is heavier duty - better materials etc" is fairly meaningless without metrics around returns, DOA and repairs.

Never really had any issues with mine over the years whether it's been CH, Thrustmaster, VKB etc They all worked fine. In fact the most expensive stick (warthog) has been the only one to show any wear on it's internals.

Well you can count the querter patches that CIG releases a DLC's too tbh hehe.

Each patch usually includes new locations/missions/ships/tweaks etc or a combination of some of those.

I wasnt bashing Arma by the way. Its up there along with this game as one of my fav games in the last decade.

DLCs only come out on a finished product :P

With the exception of ARK mind you..

Ironically hangars use to be one of the best places to check out ships etc because you got an absolutely solid FPS in them. Hopefully they will be back soon.

They did also have some of the worse graphics in them via the subscriber flair though, some of which have 90s style textures.

Big question though, should I keep my MSR or drop down to a 400i? I'll need to test fly one. I like the MCR but can't fly the damn thing to save myself. Might end up just unmelting a Cutlass.
