******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Oh..... there is one little nugget i forgot to mention, this may change before live, i hope not..... there is no armistice in personal hangers, you can get your gun out and shoot, so if some cheeky little ____ jumps in the lift with you uninvited you can shoot them when you arrive at your hanger, but they can shoot you too...... fun fun.

Update! A problem has been identified with the build which may require a new build and a bit more time today. Discussions are still happening but we'll keep you updated!

Yeah no _____ last night was horrible.

(Tysdagr) We are currently putting together a new 3.24 build for release to Evocati today. This build will have all the work in for Persistent hangars so we will have extra focus for hangar persistence for switching shards and crash recovery.

Aye it's the servers being crippled right now biggest issue people seem to have so hopefully 3.24 will reset a lot of that.

But yeah it made sense to get the feature 4.0 ready from off considering.

They ran a 2 hour test last night for server crash recovery and persistent hanger queuing.

Server crash recovery seemed to work, i don't know what was going on with persistent hanger queuing but it was incredibly slow, we all had to go to A18 and call our ships there, it was kinda fun in the way that it usually is when you get dozen's of Star Citizen's all in one place getting restless, evaluators to persistent hangers were being allocated but at a rate of about 1 every 10 minutes, i was there for more than an hour before i logged off never having been given a hanger, like most of the people there.

I'll say this, when many of us come together in one place and we start talking to each other one never seens to come across any _____ its always intelligent middle aged people with a playful sense of humour, never any COD kids.

They are testing the new server replication que system.

Supposed to be better than the old one

Also.... works perfectly with the 24.7.1 AMD driver :)

totally OT but after completing crysis 1 and 2 i never got around to 3 despite owning for years. i should get on that!.

more on topic however i would imagine - spoken as a total coding luddite though - that making a small map which does not rely so much on networking and even when multiplayer is only small numbers of players (and possibly P2P not server based?) is a whole different ball game to what star citizen is doing.

i expect if you are only tracking a dozen players within a small area and not interacting with massive ships moving at speed etc its not so complex.

Some people who know a lot more than I who i spoke to who have worked with cryengine felt that it was from the get go a poor choice of engine to do this stuff.

am sure it will be fixed eventually. (fingers crossed)

Not much to render, only a few players, not many assets to keep track of and maintain over longer periods of time, no AI, etc. Stuff like BF is far more complex than Crysis 3 ever was. It depends if Roberts managed to get the best people out there for the net code or he's trying to build something great with less prepared/capable people.

Latest play test...

We broke it so well that we got all the captures we need already! We are actually going to stop the test in 10 minutes so the LIVE QA team can sort the data up to get auctioned on   Thank you all so much!!

its likely this will never be a game released
I feel for those people giving them money and keeps giving them
i wouldnt feel too sorry. lots of people are enjoying what they have already. i am holding fire until we get account persistance, but i have seen enough to be convinced with what they are trying to do - even if they are going an incredibly inefficient way about it with refactor after refactor.

Its still creeping towards that but who knows right?

As has been said many of us have a ridiculous number of hours in it and you can't argue with the staying power of this game :) Starfield for example is already a dead game.

Feel what? It's their money, not like it's been taken by force. I've seen people waste far more on other frivalous activities. I spent £25 on it 10 years ago (or however long it was) and I've spent more than that on a steak dinner which lasted 10 minutes :D I don't play this a great deal but have easily had 20-30 hours so far.

It'll never be 'released' though in the traditional sense, IMO. It'll just be a constantly evolving product.

whilst this is true (hopefully) i think "release" in a live service game these days would be the point at which the game is essentially stable and your progression is saved, and the point it is released to the media to "review".

so long as the game gets wipes where all gear earned ingame is taken from you vs gear paid for in cash gets to be kept, then i do not think you can consider the game a "game" as such, rather than an in development tech demo.... And so long as this happens i think naysayers arguing against the game do have a valid point as right now it is horribly pay 2 win due to this. (but this is just my own view not some objective truth)
